NCAA's

The slow pace through most of the race made it a sprint at the end -- not Tiernan's kind of race. He needs a hard metronome race that saps the legs of the shorter distance guys. He lost 15 spots from 8000 to 10,000 (even though he closed in 6:02.3 -- at least 12 seconds faster than Denault (6:14.5), McEntee (6:14.7), and Williamsz (6:15.3), all of whom are milers).

Odd stat of the race: Penn State's Matt Fischer won the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, but finished 167th yesterday at Nationals. He lost 105 places after the 5K mark.

Still, the lads beat Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Iona, Providence, Georgetown. Arkansas was 28th.

Tired of Terre Haute venue -- how about Nationals at some place that's not so cold & windy?
