Was flipping thru the channels last night and Universal Sports had the IAAF World Relays Championships from Bahamas.

Jordy Williamsz ran an 800 leg for the Aussies in the DMR. He ran pretty well, my guess would be about a 1:46/7 split. He stuck his nose right in there with the guys from USA and Kenya. Aussies ended up 4th with the US 1st and Kenyans 2nd. Fun meet to watch. They ran 4x1,4x2, 4x4, 4x8 and DMR for both men and women. USA won 7 of the 10 races with 2 of the losses coming from botched handoffs by both the men and women in the 4x200 and the Jamaican women beating our women in the 4x100. Be interested to see how Williamsz bounces back this week at the conf champ. Tough couple of weeks for him. 3 races at Penns then jumps on a plane and runs the next w/e in the Bahamas.

Very impressive showing by the USA men and women in the 4x400, 800 and DMR. USA women almost broke 8 minutes in the 4x800. They would have broken 8 if the last 2 legs had been pushed at all. They had 20-30 meter leads the entire way. Channelle Price, originally from Easton, PA ran a leg on the 4x800.

Yes, Jordy went mid 1:45 in the 800 leg of the DMR, which is impressive given his his heavy usage the week before at Penn Relays and anchoring the 4x800 for Australia the day before.

It's funny. I remember that when Jordy signed with Villanova, more than one person close to the program was worried about his heavy racing schedule over the previous 2-3 years. Marcus loves recruits with very low mileage: under-trained late bloomers. Jordy was racing a lot and was competing internationally and there was some worry about his long-term upside given all those hard miles. Well, that turned out to be not a concern (at least it looks that way now). Some people can compete a lot and still make significant progress (think Jen Rhines), while others break down under the load. It's very hard to predict these things. Jordy seems to be a guy who can race a lot without breaking down. The guy even runs hard road races over Christmas break. Sheesh.
