from a couple sources ...

a) VUSports has learned via a source in Worcester MA that Michael Bradley will be joining Jay Wright's staff next season. His most recent gig was as an Asst Coach at Eastern Kentucky. For those who always wanted a big man coach - they can't argue with Bradley's knowledge of an array of low post moves which he exhibited during his All-American season on the Main Line:
For those unfamiliar with Bradley:

b) From a different source: expect Ashley Howard to at least poke around with some level of interest in the open head coaching position at Drexel (replacing long-time coach Bruiser Flint). Nothing much will take place until after the season.

BEEFER/ACE/SeanDon - you are being hunted down by.......

.........VU Senior Chris Kotwicki who is from Northern VA area.

I have challenged Chris to find 10 specific Villanovans that I know will be in Louisville for our game. For every photo he sends to me with the target and himself, I offered to send him $25 via venmo to help defer his costs for the trip. Finding some on the list will be easy...but others will require conversations with folks to find out who they are and where they are.

Chris is leaving VU at 3am today with 38 students traveling in a caravan of 7 cars. Chris is the type of VU student who lives and dies with our sports program. He has a tremendous story and will be eternally grateful to Villanova for all of the opportunities he has had while a student.

I just want to provide you a heads up that this student may be asking for a photo with you and I am hoping that you can accommodate him. Thanks in advance and enjoy the game!!!!

GO CATS!!!!

Tired of hearing about Nova's lack of talent...

Just curious if others feel the same way but I continue to hear how we lack the talent of Oklahoma and most other top teams, and I'm sick of it. It's like the perception is that if we don't play perfect we don't have the talent to compete.

While we may not have a lottery pick in our lineup, if you look at our 1 through 8 we have superior talent to Oklahoma and most other teams in my opinion. We have a lot of very good college players, at least 5 of which could go for 20+ on any given night. How many other teams have that?

Buddy Heild is the man no doubt. But who is going to guard Ochefu? Nobody on Oklahoma could remotely stop him in the post. If we feed him, he could have 20+. Jenkins is a match-up nightmare for everybody. Oklahoma has no bench.

Does anybody really believe we are less talented 1 through 8 than Oklahoma?

The Villanova "Narrative"

I need to watch the replays to verify, but can someone tell me if it was mentioned that Kansas flamed out as a high seed the past two seasons in the first weekend of the NCAA tournament? EVERY game, it has been mentioned that we endured such disappointing early exit performances since our last Final Four. Like no other program has had that.

For the UNC games, did they talk about the early tournament exits for them the past 3 years?

Maybe I'm just being oversensitive. But, to me it casts a proverbial shadow over our success. Like it's a habitual thing - which it isn't. Prior to 2009, we went to 2 sweet 16s and and Elite Eight under Jay. This success is not new.

Guess we just have to get to Phoenix next year to really shut this narrative off. (How great would a Phoenix Final Four be, btw?)

My 5 year old daughter's bracket...

So at work in addition to my bracket I had my daughter fill one out. I read her the 2 teams and told her to pick the winner. I didn't help her at all unless she asked me who I thought - she only asked twice). I knew she would pick Villanova all the way but I wanted to see how much she picked up from me hearing me talk about other teams. I swear this was her bracket:

Final Four:

Villanova
Oklahoma
Xavier
Syracuse

Championship Game:
Villanova
Syracuse

Champion:
Villanova

If it plays out that way she will win the office pool. She obviously picked up on Xavier because she heard me constantly talking about how they were the best team in the conference after us. I even tried talking her out of Syracuse. I said "Are you sure? They're really not that good." She stood her ground and said "No, the orange guy-he's silly".

I'm a proud father today & I hope her predictions are right!!!

Dylan Painter in Germany

Dylan is currently in Germany playing for a USA Select team in an international U-18 type event (Albert Schweitzer tournament). One of the USA assistants is the Blair Academy coach, Joe Mantegna, so that may have been one possible connection. I know Tim Delaney played at Blair for him last year.

Looks like the USA team has lost atleast two games, but did have a W over China. Hopefully Painter can put in a good word with Hameir Wright - who is also on the team/trip.
