Horford, Noah, Brewer

It's 9 years later, and these bastards are still playing important roles on NBA playoff teams.

I will always believe our '06 team was the best of the Jay Wright era, with 4 NBA guys of our own, and we had to run into that buzzsaw. You can talk about sixe, or Kyle not taking open shots, or whatever, but above all else, we got unlucky by drawing a really talented team.

I remain bitter. This playoff season has opened the wound a bit.

weekend can't come fast enough ...

i am looking forward to heading out to Minny to cover the EYBL this weekend.
taking a look at the schedule for the 17s I should be able to catch:
Omari Spellman play 3 games.
Kevin Huerter - 3
Lamar Stevens, Lonnie Walker & Dylan Painter - 3
D.J. Harvey - 3
Jermaine Samuels & Nick Richards- 3
Jordan Tucker - 2
as well as NJ Playaz and CIA Bounce twice each.
i have a couple of blank spots in the schedule where i hopefully will be able to see the Team Final 16s with Reddish, Roundtree, Alikakos, etc. and the 16s for Takeover as well.

Rule changes including 30-second shot clock

1. 30 second shot clock
2. Time outs reduced from 5 to 4
3. Stricter enforcement of defensive rules
4. Move restricted area from 3 feet to 4 feet
5. Elimination of time outs called by coaches in live ball situations
6. Allowing pre-game dunking

Couple other changes that are proposed and could be approved June 8th.

OMARI SPELLMAN....NAMED FIRST TEAM EYBL.......HOUSTON SESSION

OMARI HAVING A GREAT AAU SEASON SO FAR.....HE AVERAGED A DOUBLE DOUBLE OUT AT SESSION THREE IN HOUSTON.....OF THE NIKE EYBL CIRCUIT.....AS A RESULT HE WAS NAMED FIRST TEAM FOR HIS OUTSTANDING PLAY OUT OF OVER TWO HUNDRED PLAYERS...SPELLMAN KILLING IT ON THE BOARDS AVERAGED 13REBOUNDS PER GAME.....IN LESS THAN A FULL GAME.......OMARI CONTINUES TO ENHANCE HIS MCDONALD ALL AMERICAN CHANCES....WITH THESE KIND OF SUMMER PERFORMANCES.......THE EYBL CONSISTS OF MANY OF THE TOP PLAYERS IN THE COUNTRY.........IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE TWO HARDEST POSITIONS TO RECUIT ARE TRUE POST PLAYERS, AND TRUE POINT GUARDS.......WE ACHIEVED BOTH OF THESE GOALS WITH POTENTIALLY GREAT PLAYERS IN......JALEN BRUNSEN AND OMARI SPELLMAN.....THE END......

2015 Graduation Weekend

My son graduated this weekend from the College of Engineering. Fortunately, he is starting a fantastic job in a few weeks. But, more importantly, I wanted to comment on graduation weekend. Villanova did a first class job with everything during graduation weekend. From the commencement program on Friday night to the reception afterwards and the individual schools recognition ceremonies followed up with the Baccalaureate . It was fantastic. There wasn't a detail that was missed.

Good luck to all of the graduates of 2015.

Montage of Heck

Has anybody seen this Kurt Cobain documentary on HBO? Pretty sure his daughter, Frances Bean was the Executive Director.

It hasn't been getting the best reviews from what I've seen, but I saw it last week and thought it was very entertaining, though I was (am) a big Nirvana fan. Courtney Love shows her saggy cans throughout the movie and admits to taking heroin while pregnant because "she knew she could handle it".

Big East and Football

I was surprised to see only 3 BE schools field a football team:
Villanova: CAA
Georgetown: Patriot
Butler: Pioneer (who knew!)

Why is this? Is it a funding and / or priority issue? Title IX?

Does fully funding FCS football put Villanova at a disadvantage to its peers?

Football has a loyal, but very small following at Villanova (look at attendance figures)

Coach Talley has been a great ambassador to the University. As he approaches retirement, will the school revisit the commitment to football when he hangs it up?

Does Villanova really want to be the only BE school fully funding FCS football when the broader University community doesn't support the product? I'm not sure.

Tragedy at Notre Dame

My large extended family, without a Notre Dame fan among us, has joined together to send our prayers and sympathies to the entire Notre Dame community. A tragic campus accident has taken the life of a young man one day before his scheduled graduation. A special prayer is extended for the Class of 2015. Incidentally, during Villanova's Friday graduation ceremony, Father Peter recognized two young men from this graduating class who had passed away by asking their classmates the "raise their V's in a moment of silence" for these two young men - a powerful moment.
