3 Muslim students killed in Chapel Hill

I know (hope) you are joking, but that is probably the mindset of too many people. No need to stoop to their level because it is exactly what these jihadists want. Things like this are what will anger/scare the average Muslim. We do not need an all out religious war breaking out. Look at what happened in France after the attack, way too many innocent Muslim's were profiled and attacked. It happened here after 9/11 too.

Based on four beheadings of Americans by ISIS/L I think the American public is pretty calm. Some might say apathetic.

Yea, I don't understand why this is such a big story. At least before people have any idea why this happened. Are we going to turn every murder into a gigantic national story now?

are you new to the country, or have you just never paid attention to the news before?

The radio said it was in Greensboro. I see now that that isn't the case.

Got me thinking, though…

Can we "move" tic to Greensboro? Seems like a lot more happens in Greensboro than Goldsboro. Would be more material.

Edit: j

I think it's possible that there was an element of bigotry there, but it seems like it wasn't the primary motivator.

Same as beating up an ahole outside of a bar who turns out to be gay. Not necessarily the reason for the fight but it becomes the story because it is sensational.

"We hope that in spite of this tragic loss their love will continue to inspire more love, break down ignorance and unite us all because we are one humanity,"

These 3 people seemed like extremely good people. Created their own charities and gave to the unfortunate regularly. They seemed to come from wealth, and are a shining example of how Americanized middle eastern people can succeed and blend their two cultures. If there was racial or "atheist" motivation, it will be extremely sad - but the loss of 3 good people because of some fat loser is already pretty horrendous.

I have a "buddy" on facebook who is an atheist and just COMPLETELY gets off on posting about how Muslims do this and Christians do that. It is constant and I should probably defriend him because I think people who use facebook as a platform to attack others about their beliefs is complete bullsht. Anyway, I think this is a horrible tragedy but I did take great joy in posting the link on his page as soon as I read the killer was an atheist.

Scottie nails it. The leader of turkey made some comment about how Obama needs to say something about this.

I can honestly say that that is one of the worst articles ive ever read.
I honestly didn't even read it, saw Glenn Greenwald tweeted it out. I will check it out now.

I have heard some nightmares from friends who have dealt with the "crazy neighbor." That said, nothing approaches this POS. I am sure this couple wanted to try and keep piece by not reporting him earlier. It obviously would not have made a difference though as even a restraining order is not worth the paper its written on. If he wanted to murder them, nothing would have stopped him.

One friend of mine has had to go to local court several times for various stupid things that his neighbor reported to police about a their dog in his yard, a party in the backyard or someone stepping on his property line and so on. I can't begin to imagine what it is like as I have been very lucky with my neighbors throughout my life. As a matter of fact, we all help each other and some have keys to each other's house to help care for pets, etc when the other is on vacation.
