Currently involved with a chick who thoroughly believes in this pseudoscience.

Im aware that women love it, as it is a widely followed system of thought that allows them to not take responsibility for their actions.
But it annoys the living shit out of me.
I'm truly astounded that an adult could believe this, but it is what it is.

My question to the esteemed newsgroup is: I would like to either (1) dissuade her belief in the whole stupid thing, or (2) use it to my advantage.

Any suggestions, gentlemen?

Believe you will be taking an extended leave soon. Therefore, why try and change something core to another. It's similar to how women try and change men they become involved. It drives us crazy so don't return the favor. You're taking off soon. Use it to your advantage, maybe get her to make some bad decisions and enjoy the fruits of your understanding. From your posts over the years I do not see this as a long-term deal for you. Have some fun with it.

Would you consider this woman to be intelligent?

It is one thing for a dumb person to buy into astrology, but its an interesting situation when a smart person believes in something asinine like astrology.

Just monitor the daily horoscope for both of you, and if it happens to say something that "helps" you, use it to your advantage.

You never struck me as the type of guy who would spend 50 years with someone who believes strongly in astrology. Which seems to be confirmed by your OP in the thread.

Is it any more far-fetched than dating a religious broad who thinks that we were actually all spawned from some dude named adam and chick named Eve? Or that some old dude built a big boat and hauled around two of each of the gazillion animals?

I'd rather schtoink the astrology chica

Could this be a long term relationship? If so, the astrology thing is going to be an obstacle. (Or would be for me - would just annoy the sh*t out of me every time she mentioned it). Sounds like she's pretty entrenched in it.

Eye rolls. Like we listen to what they have to say anyway. Just plow and dont sweat the small sh*t.

Hey, lay off the Chosens.

Ok, how about this then:

Do women like it more because it alleviates personal responsibility from their actions, or for shallow women to appear more deep by believing in something?

perhaps they aren't smart enough to think it through as deeply as you are. i think it is a case of ignorance is bliss.

It gives context and meaning to their actions. They lack the courage to confront the meaningless void of life. Would prefer some sugary sweet veneer of bullsh*t.

More likely the former. It also gives them a reason for reacting wildly differently to the same set of stimuli based on what time of the month it is. ("It's the MOON PHASE that's making me do this").
