Looking for a new checking account, any benchwarmers have any good suggestions. Might have to go with Chase out of convenience in the CoDB.

Charles Schwab is real nice. high interest checking. they have no branches, so you get reimbursed for all ATM fees at the end of the month. comes in real handy if you find yourself sans cash at a strip club or casino. go ahead and take the $20 fee, i'll get it back in a few days from Chuck.

I've been interested in Schwab but like going to a branch to withdraw big bills and to deposit checks. How do you deposit checks into a Schwab account? Via cell camera?

you do it via cell on the app or you can mail it to them. not sure if there's a limit on ATM withdrawal. i've never done over $1K withdrawal from a machine through the account. i keep an account a local branch in case i need to go over that.

you also have a brokerage account with Schwab so you can do some trading as well. real easy to move money from the checking to brokerage online with just a click, and then you can invest in your future.

Wells Fargo is annoying. I have around $30k (that's my fun money) in my checking account, so looking for something that gives some interest.

Let us know if you find a bank that gives interest on checking accts.........actually, I never write checks; pay electronically with no charges, and save a lot on stamps....

i like capital one checking and savings. formerly ING been with them since 2005. my friends love Schwab, cap one savings takes 2 days to get your money FYI.

My bank account has a cash back/rewards type deal. In January I got a $2.80 in cash back for four months worth of transactions. I didn't spend it all in one place in case anyone was wondering.

Wells Fargo has Way2Save which rolls over $1 into a special account any time you use your debit card or have an automatic payment withdrawn. so at the end of the month, you kind of have some 'free money' in a sense that you probably had forgot about.

We have the Way2Save also........wife is always bitching that her debit card is out of balance because they take out a $1 every time she uses it. She's not happy with the 5 cents interest she gets every month........the "free money" is your own money in another account.

That Way2Save account is such a scam. It's a shell game within YOUR accounts. My son got a checking/savings account from Wells Fargo and I told them to take that crap off of his account.

they explicitly tell you this when you opt into it (at least they did with me), so I am not sure why this is such big news.

They never said anything about it when he converted his student accounts to regular accounts.

I just opened a fidelity account for me and the soon to be mrs as our shared checking account. same as schwab, ATM reimbursement was the big play but they have branches for deposits/withdrawals. No ATM fees came in handy in Montreal on a friend's bachelor party in June.
