Things begin to get a little slow this time of year, so just relaying the below anecdote.
Following up on my previous thread about my Duke work colleague – he has always done very well in the annual Company NCCA tournament pool and really gets into it doing deep dive analysis, watching multiple games at the same time with 2 -3 TV sets. Last year he picked Nova to win it all – as we all know that did not come to pass, but despite that he was still able to win the company pool. Everyone was on him because he won, but picked the wrong champion.
At his retirement lunch last fall, I had the opportunity to roast him a bit and I went over his stellar reputation for always doing well in the Company NCAA pool, I then went on to say that everyone was wrong for getting on him for winning the pool but picking the wrong team when in fact he had indeed picked the right team going with Nova. The problem was he just picked the wrong year! I then presented him with a framed picture of the 1985 Villanova Championship team
