Funny we don't hear much about this anymore

Liked it, but didn't read it (yet).

UnitedHealth Care bailed out of the exchanges in most states.

Company leadership apparently came to the astute realization that continuing to lose millions of dollars is not going to make its shareholders very happy going forward.

This is what happens when high utilizers of health care services (a.k.a. sick people) all sign up for coverage at the same time. Which kind of defeats the purpose of "insurance" as we know it.

Not to mention that many of these plans offer "coverage" in name only with high deductibles and limited provider networks.

But hey, at least they can say that "Obamacare" was a success.

Either those who conceived of this plan are very dumb for not seeing this coming a mile a way or they set up the system to fail to bolster their argument that a single payer system is the only solution.

And you know that President Hillary will be all over that to redeem herself for her giant f*ck up of an attempt at health care reform in the '90s. I am starting to see her ads on TV as primary day in PA is only 4 days away. The shameless pandering to women strategy is already in full force ("EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!").

My only hope is that Congress remains in control of the Republicans to block any attempt to move to a single payer system which would be an unmitigated disaster. But that won't stop them from trying.

"Who wants free health care?" Sign me up!

Sorry, I was hoping to bait DMIL and ND into their usual cynical attempts to shift the blame and deflect from the disaster this law has become (as predicted by many who understood it) but then realized what's the point. Using things like facts and data doesn't work well in these situations.

Comment on/expand upon my analysis and we're good.

Bang!

what was all this about? Adp defending "job creators" attempts to deny their workforce the basic healthcare that the rest of the civilized world has had for decades? (Queue him fake-sympathizing with the cause by saying that he doesn't agree with the idea, just the plan.... then not having an alternate plan).

It's funny, I spent two hours today talking about the Administration's new Medicare Part B demo. You guys should read Zeke Emanual's piece from the Atlantic where he talks about how he doesn't want to live past 75 years old. He gives the rationale for rationing healthcare. It's the death panels brought up during the ACA debate. For those that don't know who Zeke is hit the google machine. He's part of HRC's healthcare team and a huuuge backbone for the current Administration and their healthcare policy ideas. It's radical stuff. Well, the Administration is now implementing this idea in phases. I won't even begin to get into it here because this isn't the forum However, in the midst of the discussion I actually thought of you guys and I had a little laugh. Former Democrat Congressman Tony Coelho wrote a good response in the Huffington Post. My guess is Congress will beat this back because it's radical stuff. However, all these horror stories you heard during the ACA debate are beginning to come true. The plans are a mess, insurers are pulling out, the Administration is in the pocket of AHIP and reliant on them so they are stuck. It's a mess. Good news is premiums won't go up there year and we've solved the issue of providing insurance for those 50 million uninsured. Oh wait, no we didn't. We only have 12.7 million in the exchanges and the bulk of those people already had insurance prior to this disaster. And yes, below I linked a Huffington Post article.

you must not understand the ACA. This isn't about employer-sponsored plans....until the employers drop their employees and dump into the exchanges.

Damn I clicked on this thread thinking it was about Hilart being led off in handcuffs.....any ideas when the indictment is coming?

Still bitter my Pens knocked his Rangers out.

Just won a NC -NYR barely glanced off the radar this year. Sorry pal.

Seriously - since when do you care about facts and data? This is a new development. I'm intrigued.

All those games the past 4 years has overloaded dmils brain. Btw, is that the biggest bitch excuse ever from a fan of a team that hasn't won crap in 60 years? I was embarrassed for him.

I, like Burrs, can't fully get behind you giving someone sh*t for their team sucking. You cherry picked whatever team you felt like at the time from Pburgh, CoP, Boston and DC.

So what you're saying is, he can't say "we" when referring to his teams.

Weak and tired. ND, still suffering from all those games played during Phillie's 5 straight division titles.

Adp hops on whatever bandwagon and whatever side of his mouth suits him. Pens were embarrassed the last two years, and he doesn't follow the sport. Let's not act like anyone gives a shit about his hockey opinion. Call me when Lucas Duda wins something and adp actually settles on a team or a fact. #herecomestheindictment/run/juliusrandalhittingthrees/Desmond100million/BenmoveslikeCam yawn.

I'll send you some pics from the games on Thursday and saturday. Go pens.

Aren't they call sweaters in hockey? And no, I'm not 15 years old. I'll be the guy at the game not being bitter his team lost.

FYI - hockey is the game where the players skate on a 200X 80 ice surface ( North American) and use sticks. It's played in an arena at the pro level. The surface has 5 circles , two in each zone inside the blue line and one at center ice. It also has two additional 'dots' outside of each blue line. These are the areas where 'faceoffs' occur after game stoppages. There are also 5 'lines' on the ice surface : two goal lines, two blue lines defining a team's 'zone' and a center ice line.

The object of the game is to put an object called a 'puck' into the other team's goal, or net as it's often called. Teams play 6 a side with a group of reserves and players are free to jump on and off the ice at any time during play, as long as it's a substitution. This process is called 'changing In the fly'. Players may also sub freely after each whistle, unless it's an 'icing' call, where the offending team must keep its players on the ice.

The game is regulated by on ice officials called referees and linesman. Referees call penalties, while linesman call things like offsides and icing. Icing occurs when a team shoots the puck down the ice without reaching the center ice or 'red' line.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I think you'll have fun at the games. It's usually quite impressive to view live for first time attendees. Enjoy.

I haven't watched an inning of Yankees baseball and I don't care. Still floating around as an NFC.

I knew it would be great but I am still surprised on the effect it's had on my entire sports hemisphere. It's been better than expected and I expected a lot. I'm so satisfied as a fan. Like never before actually.

Solid post from a sold poster.

I enjoyed this breakdown. I think it can go along way in helping ADP enjoy his experience later this week. One thing, tho. Would kindly add the word "goofy" before the word referees. Thank you.

Do I need to bring commemorative brackets to throw?
