Can the geniuses of this board please tell me if this show is worth a watch for someone who doesn't have any interest in Lord of Rings or Harry Potter or Dungeons n Dragons and shit? People swear to me I will like it. Should I invest in this from the beginning? Or is it really corny?

Looking for a show to watch from the beginning. Never saw Walking Dead or Sons of Anarchy either. These seem to be the other options.

If Star Wars is for kids, then most things for you will be as well.

Sons of Anarchy is extremely corny. Very entertaining. I watched the entire series. They love montages!

I don't like Harry Potter or Dungeons and Dragons and I like Game of Thrones

I also enjoyed Sons of Anarchy. Its a decent show for what it is (though the Ireland season was terrible)

It's good. There is a lot going on; either you will watch with rapt attention and read recaps after every episode or you will just enjoy the medieval concept of the show without worrying about all of the politics and relationships. I don't read the books so I'm not livid and posting on newsgroups when some character dies out of context.

GDog, I hate that fantasy crap you mentioned, but I enjoy GOT very much. The fantasy stuff is minimal. Great characters, good story. If you give it a chance, then I think you'll like it.

I'd go Walking Dead next. It's a good show. Give it a chance.

I saw SOA, too.....I enjoyed it, but in a different way. Too many shootouts between 15-20 guys, and two are actually shot. Stuff like that, but a solid story in-between some of the unbelievable craziness.

you have issues with 15-20 person shootouts in SOA where no-one gets hit, but recommend the walking dead where people are popping off head shots from 30 yards on a dead sprint?

The difference is that SOA is about a biker gang. These actually exist. They could of done it in a more believable way.

TWD is based on a comic book. So, I expect for there to be that sort of nonsense.

I mean how many car chases can one 2500-person town have?

Regardless, I enjoyed both. I just liked Dead better.

I like both Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

Game of Thrones - TV show cuts a lot of corners from the books, so you lose some of the immersion in the world. Think of it more as a story of political intrigue/medieval feel as opposed to Harry Potter wizardry, but the show tries to pander to that crowd, especially with the special effects Avatar like shit in the most recent season.

The Walking Dead - Good show that lost some luster in the last season. Plenty of characters (ensemble cast) to keep you interested. A survivor-thriller type show with a "lord of the flies" type organization of people trying to survive. Like someone mentioned above, a lot of "perfect shots" and killing of zombies so if that isn't your thing then stay away. You'll also meet the ****-iest person on the history of TV, a bitch named Andrea.

All said, I would say give The Walking Dead a chance. Game of Thrones is gonna go to shit this season because they caught up to the books.

I like GOT.....does bounce around a bit and it is hard to keep track of how the different scenes interact with a time line.
Sons of Anarchy......never saw a bunch of bikers hug so much and get teary eyed...
Walking Dead.........just one question.....What do all these dead walkers eat since there are so few undead???

Zombies don't starve to death so they don't have to eat anything. Enjoy the Walking Dead. Even though I'm not a sci-fy guy, I've always enjoyed zombie flicks.

SOA was worth a watch, but as other have said, so corny.

No intel on Game of Throwns. Have always had a similar concern/question.

Dirty
Zombies need something to keep them semi-alive........nothing survives without some source of energy......now if you say they have evolved into plant forms where they get their energy from the sun, water and dirt, I can buy that....the body must drain some source to keep it going

SOA was good I thought. Game of Thrones is very good.

The Walking Dead started off good but I gave up two seasons ago. Unless there's an end in sight, I doubt I watch that show again.

Did anyone even die in the real life biker shootout in texas that resulted in over 100 people getting arrested? Bikers are bad shots...

Check out twin peaks

I just started watching Man in the High Castle on Amazon. Very good after 2 episodes.

I liked SOA, Dead, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. They all do a good job of character development, cliff hangers and oh sh!t moments. There is very little "lord of the rings" wizardy stuff in GoT..and when they do pop up, it involves a naked woman, so you should be ok.

Just finished Fargo - awesome. I watched season 2 before season 1 (Chronological).

Looking forward to Better Call Saul starting back up in 2 weeks.

If you're looking for a show to binge watch, Game of Thrones is a good one.

Another suggestion: Justified.
