End of Falcons-49ers game. Atl down 4 with 2:56 left. 4th down at the SF 2 yard line. Atlanta...kicks a FG??

Atl had 2 timeouts and the 2 min warning. Which basically means 1 first down by SF, and they lose. What's the upside to not going for it at the 2 yard line? If you dont get it...they're at their own 2 and have a playbook shrunken down 80% and likely punt it back to you inside their own territory. Kicking off you still need to force a 3 and out and then drive most of the field for a FG, but they'll have the whole field to work with as they wont be pinned back.

I've seen some dumb play calls but this might be the dumbest one ever. Atl has now lost to the Bucs at home, and to Blaine Gabbert in back to back weeks. They did escape with a 3pt win against the Almighty Mettenbooger the week before. This team is fading fast.

Goofy sport, bros. By the way let's crown New England. Everyone else stinks.

Not enough intentional losing as part of a 12 year success plan for football to be considered "goofy".

Agreed ATL should have gone for it and won the game with a good play call on 4th down. But while conservative, it wasn't the dumbest call ever. The Falcons could not run the ball, period. Freeman had 12 carries for 12 yards. 2:56 on the clock when they kicked the FG. They cut the lead to a FG possession to win, hoping to get the ball back when you don't need a TD, just FG range.
