more like a group of shows than a tour, but I'm streaming.

I think Trey is going to get a mixed reception. I'm loving it because I like Trey a lot. But he is not entirely natural out there right now. Looks more afraid to make a mistake than to be himself. And his normal quirky self is not what they would want either. If this was more of a Trey with the Dead show then he would probably look a bit more natural and having a good time than if he were the man replacing the man for the final four shows.

Huge gaps in the action. Short first set with a way too long set break. Drums/space with a phil chant taking longer than normal too.

Excited to see how the rest of the "tour" pans out. I assume Trey will find his comfort zone a bit more as the shows progress.

Really enjoyed the saint stephen. Had a different feel to it but like what Trey did there and the Eleven following it had some strong work by Bobby.

Stream looked great.

Not the biggest phish/trey guy but thought he added some much needed energy. Set break was entirely too long. Think is was a good first show excited to catch them in Chicago next week

thought they sounded better than expected last night. These Cali shows are really nothing more than rehearsals for the Chicago shows. bgranc, what show(s) are you going to? I'm going to the first one.

That Brown Eyed Woman with Bruce on vocals did it for me. I love the Hornsby years. View from the Vault 2 is one of my favorite DVDs.

As I mentioned, view from the vault is my favorite dvd, and row jimmy is the best sing in that dvd. And here comes a little row jimmy.

I know many will probably disagree, but for me this set is fantastic.

There was some good chemistry tonight. Next weekend should be good.

Agreed. Great set list as well. I'd be lying if I said it's the same as the real Dead but the anticipation of wondering what the next song will be is pretty similar from what it used to be.

as025, I think Bruce is good on vocals, but it seems like he's singing most of the Jerry songs (in fact, all the ones you mentioned above) and those are big shoes to fill for me.

GregW I'll be there Thursday to Sunday. Hitting up the High Stepping Into Town show with Greensky Bluegrass Thursday and will be at the shows Fri/Sat. Didn't have a chance to watch last night but like the setlist and reviews.

great time last night, second set had a little bit of a lull to it at times - especially coming out of drums - but the first set was perfect and the first 4 songs of second set were great. little bit of a mixup on some of the lyrics, bruce stumbled a couple times and they had trouble figuring out who was leading on he's gone. you can see them all consulting the lyrics on their ipads up on stage.

boomers and molly were hitting me just right from loose lucy - loser - row jimmy - alabama getaway stretch into the set break. thought we were gonna get so many roads but didn't happen.

phil sounds brutal on vocals, but what else is new. their transitions were choppy at times but that's to be expected, i think trey is deferring a bit too much but he did have some very tasty jams last night, awesome when the crowd appreciates what they are hearing as it's transpiring. chimenti was tight on the keys as well.

looking forward to phish out here at shoreline on july 24th.

rumor is that the rainbow from saturday night was a stage production and cost $50k to create. looking at some of the pics it does seem like it's a little "off" but everyone i spoke with on sunday who was there saturday said it was magical.

just a great evening and fantastic energy.

Just watched the second set.... That he's gone was kind of a dumpster fire. Glad they got those two shows in to practice a bit.

This has been a pretty cool series jambase has done with different artists taking on dead tunes. Here is the latest with Nova's own Ryan Montbleau covering Duprees Diamonds

Boom!

A little delayed but that box of rain and jack straw were fantastic. Trey killing it! The awkwardness of last Saturday has evolved into a great comfort level.

Bertha time.

Gonna be a special one tonight, bois.

I think there will be one or two surprises. Hearing rumors of a Branford appearance, which would be very cool.

Any guesses for what the last encore song will be? I'm going with Not Fade Away.
