Guess who I am?

He can't get off the tee. Outside of that his game looks tremendous. However, I'm better with a driver in my hand. He was missing fairways by 50-60+ yards. Really hard to hit a golf ball when you are dropping your head a few inches. He battled back and almost drained a birdie to finish at even par. Rest of his game looks good. However, he has started every tournament this year with a bogey. He's not ready to begin rounds and can't get off the tee.

Better chance of happening? American Pharaoh wins the Triple Crown or Tiger completes 2 rounds at Muirfield?

Could be worse......finished with 5 birdies......4 bogies......1 double bogie........73........+1

He shouldn't even have any woods in his bag.
Won't ever be a highly ranked player again.
Fried mentally.
They should do golf fans a favor and not show any more clips of him playing unless he gets into the top 10 in a tournament on a Saturday or Sunday.
It was fun watching him play when he was the best player of his generation - if I want to see crappy golf I can head to the local muni on a weekend.

Eric, I'm not sure I agree. His only issue is the driver/3 wood. His short game is completely back and he can still hit irons until the cows come home. He simply needs to figure out how to fix his game off the tee. Yesterday I watched just about every shot. He was simply spraying off the tee. Everything else is back to the point of being a top 5 player. He just needs to figure out the game off the tee. If he can stay healthy, a big if, he'll be back contending again very soon.

I think you do agree with me.
he should do nothing but hit irons.
too many of the young bucks lapped him while he was busy chasing so much skirt that he threw his back out.
He will crumble between the ears if he us in the hunt on a weekend and has to go against the new elites.
Could he have a return to form? Less than a 10% chance of that. Nobody fears him any more and that mental edge was a factor in his sustained greatness.

What are we talking about? He'll never return to where he was but no one on today's tour will do what he did. He'll win another major or two. He just needs his health. His short and iron game is back to elite levels again. I do not agree he's mentally done or will crumble facing the likes of Jordan Speith. He won't win them all but he'll win some

I don't see him returning to the top 5 of the world rankings. I never meant to imply he would return to his former glory - that era/chapter is closed. Maybe he sneaks in another major like ancient Jack did or Crenshaw did at Augusta. .. but he appears to be toast.

Didn't see the round. Until he does something late on the weekend, I'd rather watch a bunch of other players.

So what is the standard? If he starts winning a few tournaments and bags another major he's back as a player. Tiger's not been good. However, the problem I see if he set the bar so high anything less than being dominant means he's not "back". Call it whatever want, sneaking in etc..but he wins a few tournaments and another major then he's back to being a top golfer. If he's healthy he's too good not to return. Watching him yesterday compared to where he was two months ago was a completely different player. Still has to figure out getting off the tee. I think he'll do enough to start winning again. We'll see.

Given he is older now - being back would mean getting back into maybe the top dozen or so players in the rankings and being consistently in contention.
In the meantime, stop showing "highlights" of his crappy round and menstrual cramping - I want to watch the best players play - not the has beens.

Totally fair standard and I would be stunned if Tiger doesn't achieve that level this year. He might not play enough to get his ranking up this year but being in contention and one of the top dozen when he does play will happen.

he's done as a top player. His forte was his incredible mental strength and confidence. Other players were beaten beforethey teed off because of the intimidation factor. Eerily similiar to Mike Tyson - when he lost to Buster Douglas, he was never the same.

Agree his best days are behind him.....but, his accomplishments are right there with the very best to ever play the game....Nicholas, Palmer, Hogan. It's a shame he wandered off track, and ran into some injuries. When he plays, he still attract the biggest crowds, and TV ratings are better. Would be nice to see him win some events, and maybe a major or two, but, if not, he will always be remembered with the best to ever play the game.

Tiger is terrible with the driver. He has no feel as to where the club head is at impact and his tendency is to be way too closed. No longer are the days of being able to keep the club slightly closed at impact while hitting that power fade.

Yang Yong-eun, the Buster Douglas of the PGA Tour. No majors by Mr. Woods since.

Tiger is -3 thru 5 and just sent another one 40 yards right on #6. 1/6 fairways hit. It's amazing watching a guy at this level unable to get off the tee. Everything else looks like old Tiger.

Tiger's whole family was big for a while, then he ran into a fire hydrant, had his doctor come under scrutiny, lost his family and predictably, his health. David Wright has a better chance of returning to form than Tiger right now.

85 ... not bad. Sounds like he had a round like I had the last time out. Only hit 4 good tee shots the whole round. Hit none of the par 3s in regulation. But, salvaged an 86 with great pitch shots and a sand save - only needed 13 putts over the last 10 holes.

There's an odd number of players in the field so he's playing first and alone tomorrow.

If he ever has a chance to somewhat recapture a game, he must ask Butch
to work with him. I believe Foley must have screwed him up with that dropping
of the head.

  • OT: To all of you equipment fans. Jack Nicklaus played the same
  • permission 3-wood for thirty seven years.

85 is bad? Last time I shot that, adp98 patted me on the head and said good job...

he has become a joke. and people thought golf would become irrelevant when tiger retires. the networks love him for two reasons.

1) when he plays well people watch
2) when he plays really poorly people cant look away.

I wrote a couple of years ago that he was going to break down on tv like Luke Wilson in the Royal Tennebaum's..

i think this is going to be the longest US Open in history passing Torrey Pines in 2008 at 7500 yds +. Tiger will have to hit driver. i cant see him making the cut at the US Open but I can see him winning at St Andrews. he can hit iron all day off the tee there and can putt those greens. i think more than anything St Andrews will show if he has anything left. if he performs poorly there he'll pack it in until the PGA.
