A truck carrying multiple loaded assault rifles, handguns, knives, body armor, and night vision goggles was stopped at the entrance to the holland tunnel. Apparently they were just "gun enthusiasts" from the SoP who had no idea that you can't bring guns into the CoDB. Their truck was a bit conspicuous:

I personally love these "people trying to bring weapons into CoDB and getting arrested" stories. There was one a few years ago where some tourist from Tennessee tried to bring a handgun to the 9/11 museum, got caught, and went to jail over it.

Was just over there. Didn't see any guns or police, but did run into KAT.

I remember a story about a guy who spent the prior few years in the SoP, then tried to bring a handgun into a club in CoDB. Ended up shooting himself and got some time in jail.

Wondering what they were doing with full body armor, knives and night vision.

Story update - just read their story is they were on their way to rescue someone being held against their will. I guess someone moved Nerlens Noel to the GCitW for a few weeks.

I like the addition of "tonka" to that truck. What is worse, adding a "Tonka" decal to your truck as an adult, or wearing another man's name on your back?

edit (tjc): Also, what the hell is in that cooler?

Pride Parade this weekend in the GCiTW. Unfortunately I will be out of town. Should be a blast.

How did they get busted? How did the police end up searching the truck?

No jail time. She pled guilty to 4th degree possession of a firearm and paid a $200 fine. The judge dismissed the state charge which would given her mandatory jail time if convicted.

Here is another shot of the truck. As put by Jalopnik, this is exactly the truck you would drive to save your heroin addict friend if you were also a heroin addict and had a shit ton of guns with you.

So it turns out these people were insane anti-drug vigilantes. The "leader" apparently went ape shit after his daughter died of a heroin overdose in February and now he drives around in his Tonka truck trying to save people from drugs. A noble cause, but so poorly executed. Some of the shit they dug up on his facebook page is pretty nutso.

Ahh so he raised a daughter who felt a hole within her life so big the only thing she could fill it with was heroin because she didn't have any other coping mechanism... What are the odds that his reaction to this traumatic event is vigilante violence

Not a vet it appears but involved with a lot of veterans affairs. Overall the guy probably has his heart in the right place - but going about it like Paul Kearsey is not really that bright.

Disagree about the daughter's addiction - it happens to great parents and terrible parents and just about everyone in between. Seen it pretty up close - it's a nightmare and it can happen to anyone. Kids make terrible decisions all the time.
