Idaho back to FCS

Starting to see a lot of college faculty and students asking these questions at places like Akron, Eastern Michigan, etc. No sense at all to subsiding football to the tune of $8M per year when school budgets are in crisis.

If we continue to have success others will follow our model. Let the F5 self destruct on their own. The greed is so bad it will eventually become the F4 and then who knows...

If the power five split for football, what stops them from leaving the NCAA all together?

That is what the NCAA fears and why they only appear to not punish F5 schools for obvious infractions such as UNC.

I think the real problem is that the old 1A, 1AA split is no longer valid. We need to put the F5 into the new division - 1A1 (Call it what you will.) and the rest of the current 1A into 1A2 along with the best of the current 1AA conferences who wish to join. (Perfect place for Nova.) The leftover 1AAs and some qualifying D2s can become the new 1AA division. This keeps the current F5 nonsense further away from basketball.

Sun Belt kicked out Idaho and New Mexico St. effective 2018 season. Aggies, formerly of the WAC, which dissolved its football league, vow to remain FBS. Moscow, Idaho is virtually within walking distance of Pullman (Pac 12's Washington State), so it is somewhat overshadowed, sports-wise by its larger neighbor. That's a one team market if you subtract antelopes. Returning to Big Sky/FCS makes sense regionally. Being in a Gulf Coast conference didn't.

What is the bigger Cost of regular d1 versus fts. I know the stadium mandat but assuming they were already in d1, is that an issue? Aren't the cost of schollies the same everywhere? How would they save money dropping to fcs?

Save 60 scholarships (including equivalent cost for women's sports), but more importantly, they get in a league. Can't be FBS independent at Idaho, it just won't work - you'll never play a home game again.

What's the difference in number of scholarships ?

First Nova football game I attended at the stadium vs Idaho 1979, seemed very strange for Idaho to travel to Penna. for a game. Both schools were in flux with regards tp scheduling at that time. BC and Temple were mainstays on the schedule, along with Delaware.
Love for Nova to go independent, but just not practical.
