Great game at Citi. Harvey has been incredible. As someone who loves baseball, cap tip towards the Mets organization. They haven't won anything but knew when to rebuild. Good club. Look forward to a fun year in the division.

Coming off six straight losing seasons, one playoff app in 14 years, with nine of those years being losing years. Three playoff app in 26 years.

Not sure I buy the knew when to rebuild bit. Maybe, it's jus turn to have a good run?

No, they recognized where they were as a franchise, made deals (see Wheeler), didn't go out and spend stupidly and stockpiles pitching. They brought in Alderson and turned then around quicly. Give credit where it's due. This wasn't an accident. Again, 3 playoff app in 26 years, it's bound to happen again at some point. Fortune and luck tend to change as years go by. Very few maintain for extended years. Very few are totally irrelevant for extended years. And everyone else in-between take their turn at some point.

Well they brought in Alderson. Not sure how you can say acquiring guys like d'Arnaud, Wheeler, etc was just cyclical. It was a mindful rebuild done on a budget. Set up decently as a staff for a few years I think. Matz is next.

I get that. But when ever a franchise starts to do good things something positive had to happen at some point. Whether that be a front office change, striking on a few picks, a savvy trade, some luck, etc......they all have plans. Sometimes they work and sines they don't. Again, 3 playoff app in 26 years, a few good/competitive teams that didn't make it. These guys had plans too.

So what is it, 3 playoff appearances in 26 years?

Nah, the Mets are world's behind the Nats in term of talent. If the Nats flame out again I'm moving to Socal and will buy dodgers season tix. I'll live at the beach and breach the joy of Vin scully's voice.

I wouldn't say "worlds behind". Nats are far from 27 Yankees. For a team that has won nothing, you delusionally chest puff a lot.

Right, it's like identifying with a certain baseball team provides additional confidence. Can feel the chest swelling as we speak. Makes sense.

But you do think they are better than they really are.

Right, so when they win 95 games what does it mean? They are everyone's favorite. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't. So they're overrated chokers or just not good? You guys let me know when you figure it out so I know what role to play.

The CoP fans are getting a lotta mileage out of 2008. Cap tip

Flawed team that will eventually hide behind superior starting pitching at some point.

This has nothing to do with '08, but everything about the Nats folding up like a cheap suit when it matters the most. When that changes a cap tip will take place.

Overrated chokers.

I find adp's now all-out effort in several threads to ratchet down expectations for the Nats after 1 month of the season by touting some great NL East race with the Mets of all teams to be consistent with the sort of thing that probably leads the Nats team itself to choke all the time.

Fans of a true alpha dog team would scoff at the Mets and talk about how early it is, knowing that by July and August the division would be all but put away. Nats lack players that bring that attitude.

Mets are a nice young team, but -- barring another Nats regular season choke job like two years ago -- still are a few pieces away really have no business challenging this DC team for the division.

It's May 4 so I'm not sure anyone is worried about the division. Regardless, you haters need to give the Mets some credit. They started strong, playing what looks like a soft schedule. However, they won those games and at one point had the best record in baseball. I would argue it's actually those who lack confidence experience a hard time giving others their props for a job well done. It's a very small-minded CoP way of thinking. It doesn't diminish oneself to applaud the effort of others. This is what separates the NYC and CoP fans. Probably due the to inferiority complex thing.

Syndergaard and Matz are lighting it up on the farm as well. Both have ERAs under 2 and striking out 9 or 10 per nine. Next 5 years could be Harvey, Wheeler, Syndergaard, Matz and Niese. I can live with that.

As long as pitching is there, they should be in the hunt this year. And anything can happen once you're in.
