It's Official - Johnny Manziel to the Eagles

Manziel ppayed great vs the steelers. Love to see him in philly.

I think both Kaep and, more distant second, RGIII have a better shot at succeeding in Chip's system. If he's around, would try either. Manziel not enough talent/skill/size to undertake the effort -- too many character flags.

I think its at like 90% that Kaep will be in Philly. SF is almost assuredly going to cut him.

He's done in San Fran. He's owed no additional money so to bmoney's point he just counts for dead cap dollars.

Order of these craptastic QB's who may be able to revive themselves Kaep is probably at the top, followed by Bradford, RGIII, then Manziel.

Only question I'd have with Kaep in Chip's system is, is he smart enough to grasp it. The knock on him in San Fran was that he would just try to rocket balls in, instead of reading the defense.

Watching Kaep's highlights in peak form with the 9ers look an awful lot like mariotas at Oregons. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Chip got rid of all the other offensive players that would have worked in that offense.

According to what we've been learning this year, not sure how complicated it is in terms of lots of plays (very few compared to most NFL offenses and certainly a West Coast system like Reid's) -- it's more about quick thinking, perhaps a valid concern. But regardless, he is the only guy on this list with the physical tools to use everything in Chip's system (RG III pre-injury had it -- probably still has more than anyone else on the list ex-Kaep).

the kaep pic of him in an eagles hat and oregon sweatshirt are leading me to think that he's pretty much set on playing for chip.

hes athletic enough for sure, but the problems are the playmakers around him and the head on his shoulders. both seem inadequate to execute the system to perfection.

Does it really require that much athleticism to do OK in Chip's system? Foles put up 27 TDs and 2 INTs in 10 games.

numbers due to the athleticism of the other parts. so yes i would say someone needs to be a plus athlete, whether its the lump throwing to athletes or the athlete running away from the defense after his dumpy receivers couldn't get separation.

As far as playmakers on offense, cannot be worse than this year next year. Cooper will be gone. Austin will be gone. Have to think they will target someone good in free agency, hopefully two guys at least one of whom will be a massive upgrade, the other guy an upgrade. In baseball parlance both of those guys have a negative WAR so if Chip is back I think even he will be able to do better. And hope Agholor and Huff improve--wouldn't bet a ton on marked improvement but they can't regress from what we've seen and are young enough that getting better is a possibility.

the problem is I am not sure how many big time free agent WRs there will be this offseason. the only one that stands out to me is Alshon Jeffery and I can't see him leaving Chicago

a name to keep an eye on is Rishard Matthews from Miami. they might not be able to afford him and he is having a breakout year.

Kaepernick is the only guy out there than can run the true zone/read the way Kelly wants it run. Manziel and RG3 would be crippled by Week 5. They're too small to absorb the sort of hits you take running an offense that requires the QB to constantly be on the move. Alot of people think Paxton Lynch is the QB Kelly might target in the draft but that's craziness to me. This team needs to plug holes on the o-line or if someone like Joey Bosa or Robert Nkemdiche is there you take them and dont blink.

Not sure I buy the idea that you can rely on any QB to stay healthy for a full season while running the zone/read into NFL defenses.

He's the best option out there to attempt it. You dont want him getting lit up constantly but he's definitely built to sustain better than most. More than anything you want the threat present that he offers and has to be accounted for. Even if you dont run him a ton the threat that he will take off keeps defenses honest - something that doesnt exist whatsoever currently and its really killing the offense especially when you consider there's no deep threat either. Defenses are just squatting at the line of scrimmage.

Manziel to Cowboys. His behavior in Cleveland due to not wanting to be there. Easy out to be released. Texas is where he wants to be.
