Things more interesting than his stupid spending (which at least 75% of athletes do as well):
alcoholism
domestic incidents
upbringing
mom
football potential
bowling alley incident
gtown career
athleticism
cultural impact - hair, signature shoes, nba dress code
relationship with the 76ers
relationship with Larry Brown
plummet from stardom

We should have empathy for Iverson. Imagine all the horror in this life that lead to all these bad decisions. The system screwed him from day one, (see the bowling alley). It must have been hard to be so athletically blessed that all you had to do was drink all night, get out of bed and not practice while making hundreds of millions. That weight must have been unbearable. He's one of my all time favorites because he left it on the court every time. Raise a glass for A.I.

I hope they go into the fact that his mother would roll into Food Source in a Limo wearing her fur and pay for overpriced jars of peanut butter with food stamps.

that thing about his mom is a lie. a racist lie.

she would pull up in a limo and fur and shop at whole foods in Wynnewood. they dont accept food stamps.

The 30 for 30 covered his upbringing and the bowling alley incident.

AI is a very interesting case study on his life , career and post career. much more so than Kobe Muse or Doin Work or whatever. Kobe might be the most boring pro athlete ever.

the Shaq and Dale SEC thing was pretty good. i loved how Dale stuck up for Shaq when he was fouled all game long.

The stories about AI and his mom are all bad. He's basically the opposite of Julius Erving and Charles Barkley on the "how does he act in public" factor. Very selfish and unlikable guy, I challenge anyone who ever met him say that it was a good experience. Most athletes have egos, but he really took it to another level. He is also a legendary bad spender, but that is not unusual for professional athletes.

When I saw him at the Taj Mahal one night, he was playing three card poker by himself, with his posse members coming over every five minutes to get more money from him. He missed practice the next day, what a surprise.

Talk to anyone who worked at the TGIFridays he used to frequent. Their stories are legendary. Here's a sample. AI didn't feel the need to walk to bathroom. He'd piss in the next booth near where he camped out. True story.
