What a waste of money. Even though he's from Oregon he seems to not give a damn about his career like your average CoPer.

The Yankees are looking pretty rough this year. I might have to hold my nose and watch (but not necessarily root for) the Mets.

Harper will be a Yankee in a few years. Come on board now, root for the Nats and then enjoy him while you can in the Bronx.

Not sure if this is breaking a fan rule. Let me check and I'll get back to you.

At what point do they yankees and other teams start to realize that paying free agents for past performance is for morons?

General consensus is teams are paying for the first 2-3 years of a long term deal and just praying the last half isn't a total bust. The fact that teams can hold on to dominant young players for so long is ridiculous. Bartolo Colon is the highest paid starter on the Mets by far.

Gr8 bullpen that will only get better when that wife beater comes back. This will be a wonderful asset in all of those games where they trail 7-2 in the 6th inning.

Teams get 5 or 6 years of team control (including arbitration), right? I agree that is a long time frame. With that said, that doesn't mean it is a good idea to sign 29 year old mark teixeria to an 8 year deal. Nobody is holding a gun to a GM's head and saying "give this guy a stupidly long deal."

If you're Bryce Harper, why would you go to the NYY? He can get the same money in WAS. Better place to live too. They'll offer him 10Y/$300M.

The Yankees are a dead franchise.

Was Jacoby Ellsbury ever good?

It looks like he had one good season in 2011 and other than that he misses at least 40 games a year and is a .270'ish hitter. Also, weren't there a ton of STEROID rumors about him in 2011?

Where the Yankees listening to the WEEI hype machine claiming this kid was a future star? How come they didn't sign Clay Buccholz for big bucks too?

The Yankees have really "struck out" with former Red Sox players lately. Damon and this loser come to mind. Can't wait to see Sandoval hitting cleanup once ARod and Texeira both have their scheduled mid-season stints on the DL.
