This by no means is anything of bashing Jalen just a couple of thoughts:
1) I think Jalen has clearly struggled not having the ball in his hands, rightfully so. This is a player who has had the ball in his hands since 8th grade. Clearly the adjustment by playing off the ball has not gone as smoothly as thought, but I want to give him credit for making the move and willingness to adjust for the team.
2) I think Jalen in the off season needs to work on cutting his weight, take of ten pounds. I think he is playing a little to heavy, none of his fault, but that usually happens to freshman. Get him a full summer of being in the weight room and conditioning. I think a guard of his height and his game needs to be light and quicker. If he gets down to 190 or around there I think it will benefit him on both ends.
3) He has a unique ability to get into the mid range and pull up, I like that aspect of his game. Jalen would benefit from adding a floater. He is not a guard who is going to sky, I think Steve T said he might have reached his ceiling as an athlete, which I think there could be some validity to that. All creative guards have a floater to go to when deep in the lane. Chris Paul and Steve Nash were excellent at that. Even Curry has one.
4) He is a very good player who is finding his way. I think he will have an excellent career at Nova. It is part of being a freshman and finding his way, all players have to do it and go through an adjustment peroid. Next year will be interesting to see when the ball is back into his hands more often when Arch is gone!
