Sam's Brick Oven Pizza is at 2626 E County Line Rd, the day after we play Penn at home. Jay mentioned the change of venue for the next show at the end of last night's show.
That County Line Rd is not the one that becomes Haverford Avenue as you travel from Lancaster Avenue. If
Instead you traveled up Ardmore Avenue from Haverford Avenue toward Lancaster Avenue then turned right on County Line Rd you'd get to Sam's after passing both the big and little Italian Clubs. At least one of our NN members would have played Bocce at one of those two.
Our great Gold Medal Pole Vaulter, Don Bragg had a meeting at that emporium after a home coming a few years ago. Don previously met in the Pavillion after the FB Homecoming game because of the rain. I bought one of Don's books there. Great book.
In the book Don mentioned that his dad picked Don up the next day after the PSU FB game. Don's Dad looked at the trash cans that had been put out at PSU with all the empty beer and liquor bottles. Dad said you're not going to college there. Both Villanova and Penn State weren't named universities until the same November day of our our freshman year. Don found out that dad had had a conversation with Jumbo before picking Don up at PSU. Don became a Wildcat. Thank goodness we didn't drink
.
Michelle Thornton, our Hall of Fame women's Basketball player, now with her last name Eberz, bartender at what's now Sam's with her sister back when.
Update and memories.
