Those early-00s yankees were all in their late 30s and still smashing the ball. They hadthe best training staff in the bigs. Lots of yoga and green smoothies.

It really went downhill when Paul ONeill left. He always brought the good cutting edge stuff to the clubhouse. He got replaced with Raul Mondesi and his Dominican drugstore shwag.
Thoughts on JRoll being in the HOF? I would lean towards 'no' though his numbers are probably better than many other SS that have been inducted.

I would've kept hope alive for his HOF candidacy had he done some nice compiling last year -- would've been saying a couple more years like that and one day he'd get in. Unfortunately, he was terrible and now his career looks to be over. Will end up in Trammell-Whitaker land with Utley. Close but not enough.

maybe Rollins just wants to keep playing? maybe he likes being around the guys and the game. maybe he doesnt want to sit around with his wife and kid all day long.
most if not all athletes hang on too long. and i dont think many of them are hanging on thinking they will figure out a way to play better they hang on because they enjoy the game, the locker room the life style. thats why many stay on and become coaches. hard to leave something when its all you have ever known.
