receiving death threats on social media.........It was a horrible play, but a kid trying to get a college education, needs to worry about sicko-fans that live and die over games.......Where do we live? Columbia??
Maybe the coach should be blamed for trying to punt instead of running a play which would have come close to running out the clock.....

I only come on here to get into idiotic arguments with posters I do not know, or care to know. Folks who must sit at their computers day and night to post 33,757 posts with nary a spec of anything worthy of a response. It is the best thing for a five minute waste of time I can think of, and it sure beats kicking the dog.....

The UM AD actually published this after the game:

Today I awake to the shocking reality that our community who care so much about this program would send hurtful, spiteful and vicious comments to one of our students. To be clear, such comments come from a small minority, none of whom are reflective of our institution.

The program I know at MICHIGAN speaks about the team, the team the team. The people I have been associated with my whole life around this fantastic program - some whom are living and some whom have passed on - would never, I repeat never, spread blame.`

As our head coach said yesterday, "...this outcome will steel our spine."

That means all of us.

I'm asking that our community not lose this game twice by condoning thoughtless comments and remember the Fielding Yost comment that this is the "Michigan of ours."

Personally I think there is a lot to discuss.....Harbaugh electing to punt instead of run a play or take a knee and maybe let enough clock for one hail-mary play?
Why are fans so rabid that they actually would put thought to words about killing a kid over a bad play in a game......?
Should the punter have taken a knee after he recovered his own fumble instead of trying to kick the ball, which would have ran out the clock?
You choose to be your negative smart-fannied self, which you know is going to insight an argument, which gets me back to my secondary premise.......what a great way to get into a fight instead of kicking the dog.........

IMO, the coach made the correct call. You had 10 seconds left from the opposing 47. Absent something completely crazy happening, there was one play left. If you get the punt off the game is over. Now maybe he should have reminded the punter if something goes wrong just eat the ball. Worst case is Michigan State hits a 60 yarder, to win. Of course, this was about as unlikely as it gets. Can't really fault Harbaugh .The kid had two brain farts on the same play.

The smart move from a win probability standpoint would have been to go for it. Punts and punt returns are always a high risk move.
