It's with a heavy heart that I post today that our fellow Villanovan and Benchwarner, Molivero, passed away last week unexpectedly. I know he had met many posters throughout the years at games, gamewatches, and happy hours. A huge sports fan and even bigger Villanova fan, he was a valued member of the Benchwarmers community. Always down for a friendly wager, I remember him proudly showing off his check from adp (I believe it was in mrs adps name) for their $50 wager on Ryan Howards HRs last season. More than anyone I know, he was always coordinating to meet up with Benchwarmers, which I think is a true testament to his love of this community and Villanova basketball. May he rest in peace.

Thanks for posting. Found out this weekend was hoping someone would post it. Had the pleasure of speaking to him via phone a month or so ago and hoped to meet up with him soon. Seemed like a great kid. 26 years young. Very sorry for his passing and I'd love additional information.

This is awful. I met him at the Georgetown game this year. Was he even 27-28 years old? Man, this really sucks.

WOW! That is so tragic at his young age. Let's hope he has a center court seat at all our games for eternity! RIP.

Good lord, terrible news. Never met the guy but seemed like a good guy from his posts on here. Truly tragic, RIP.

Sad to hear. Seemed to be a passionate fan and was the only Nova poster I can remember getting away with multiple posts on the SHU board without being banned

He passed away in his sleep last Wednesday night at his family's home. To the extent that his family shares additional information I will post it.

Thanks for the info. That is just terrible. May he rest in peace.

Correct me if I am wrong - but wasn't there a new bet with adp this year on Bryce Harper's HR total?

Also, I am feeling we will see a Ryan Howard HR tonight in honor of selmore.

Yes, 27.5. If anyone has ideas on an appropriate way to honor the wager I'm open to ideas and would be happy to underwrite the cost of whatever we come up

with.

I Would suggest a donation to some kind of foundation that fights whatever it was that actually ended up taking him, if that information is known.

The family is asking for donations to the Wounded Warriors Project in his name.

http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.aspx
When donating in honor of someone they ask for information to send to the family of the honoree. If his parents would like to be alerted please provide the information to include in the donation. Speficially name and address. If you feel comfortable sharing please post here for others to do the same. If not, shoot me an e-mail. Thank you

Sorry to hear this. Never met him but could tell he was a reasonable and level headed contributor here. Also never knew selmore was molivero.

I didn't know who Selmore was until clicking this thread. I heard about this from friends this weekend and just connected the dots. Absolutely tragic - we had a lot of friends in common and if I had known who he was earlier I'm sure we would have met up.

The mood was somber from those who knew him - you could tell they were hurt in a way that takes a little piece of your optimism away - and everyone had nothing but nice things to say about him. God bless his family

Wow, absolutely horrible news. I never realized that who Selmore was until this post. Had my very first class, the required ACS class, at Nova with him freshman year. Very sorry to hear of his passing. I can only imagine what his family is going through. God bless him and his family

Just awful. Away from the board, I only knew friends of friends, but this is terrible.

When I hear died in sleep, can't help but think of choking on vomit laying on back while passed out drunk. Hope that's not the case and he went peacefully.

Very sad. Way too young. Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends who are hurting.

Why not post his obit? I am not sure what the conflict is on this particular point.

Wow, just brutal.

Exchanged a few emails with him a few years back. Seemed like a good dude.

Very sad news. Saw two friends from my class at 'Nova go unexpectedly in their 20s, very sad and think of them often. Selmore will be missed too.

I was with a friend for dinner tonight who lived down the hall from Selmore their freshman year and he told me some great stories about our lost member of the community. This was the one which made me laugh and captured his love for Nova basketball the most:

They were freshman in 2007. For the miraculous comeback LSU game that year, my friend got 2 tickets very close to the court from his mom just hours before the game, and needed someone to go with. On his way out, he saw Selmore and asked him to come. Unknown to him, Selmore had just stayed up all night writing a paper and then got into some day drinking after he turned it in that morning. They got to the game - the combined sleepiness, the beer at the game, and the lopsided score left Selmore sound asleep in his seat by halftime. My friend figured to let him get his rest. As we all know, our Wildcats turned in one of the best comebacks in team history. Selmore did not witness most of this, but rose to consciousness towards the end as Malcolm Grant hit a huge shot. Selmore was ecstatic instantly, waking up from his slumber and jumping onto a table near the front row as the buzzer went off - the crowd around him laughing and celebrating with the guy who my friend fondly describes as "The Mayor". He said he'll always remember the joy on his face that night, and that there was no better or more devoted fan, friend, or son. RIP to the Mayor
