adp's head might explode. I'm just waiting for endless threads this summer between mets fans and adp.

Great to read as I'm taking a poop. I can't understand how the nats get him on a 3 yr deal at 12.5 per. WTF were the mets doing they wouldn't pay him this much? I love this signing at those numbers. Shoop must be crying in bi's murphy jersey. Gr8 signing. Far cry from the 5 for 70 or 4 for 60 some predicted.

I was shocked when I heard this. 3 years? $12M per? That's it? I don't understand why the Mets didn't resign him for the same terms. Only explanation is that the Mets didn't want him back for other reasons. He is a homophobe and there has been noise that he wasn't well-liked by teammates.

I never liked him. Seems like a team mascot type. But it was hard to find fault with his playoff performance this year.

So playfully calling Flores a "fag" means they don't resign him? Gutless.

In spring training he said he doesn't agree with that lifestyle. He's one of those Chriiiiiiiiistians who always has the high moral ground in any arguement.

The real reason he wasn't re-signed is that the owners are misers who are using the Mets as a lifeboat to hold themselves above water in order to pay off their massive personal debts.

perhaps they can get more value out of walker
Huge walker fan but they have him for one year and he's walking unless the mets pony up more than 3 for 37. And it cost them niese, who could have been moved for something else. Whatever, I'll take it.

And they're losing Yopenis, as well. Maybe they can win games 1-0?

Mets are gonna look like the Nats at this rate. No offense. All pitching.

Don't worry, they signed Alejandro de Aza...

Phillies > Mets within 2 years. Bank on it.

this is a joke right Burrs

Walker is a massive upgrade over Murphy who has no range and is a terrible fielder. Their was a very small market for Murphy's talent. Any gains from his bat are given right back with his fielding,

Murphy had a ton of doubles for the Mets -- only play with 37+ doubles each of the last four seasons. He's also been the most consistent bat of anyone on the team. His defense, while weak, doesn't counter that. I was at game 4 when Murphy made the error -- that was 100% Murph being Murph. But he was a good hitter and any Met fan who thinks were better off without him is in denial.

Daniel Murphy is an average to slightly above average but still incredibly flawed baseball player. He's a decent hitter with an above average contact tool, but zero plate discipline, as evidenced by the fact that he's only walked in six percent of his career plate appearances. He's a butcher at second base and is prone to blunders on the base paths.

Do I wish the Mets could have kept him? Yes, because I think he is a net positive, but I also think that Walker and Dilson Herrera will make it a wash.

The shock to me is 35 yr old zobrist gets 4 and 56 and nats get murphy who is 4 years younger for this contract. Last year I believe Zobrist hit below .250.

Zobrist is a saber darling though. He is a versatile player so his WAR gets a bump since he plays so many different positions.

Great signing for the Nats, their offense has been flagging, also have to think he is not a whiny entitled pu$$y and they need to add players who will change that dynamic in the clubhouse. However, it does further promote the theme of defense being an issue especially in the infield. I would have expected nothing less from Rizzo than to ignore that shortcoming.
