Men finish 18th and women 19th. Lipari finishes 5th overall and tiernan is 8th. Great runs by both of them. Gotta be honest though a few disappointing runs by some of the kids. Piccirillo and Williamsz both appear to have had tough days. Overall, not a great team day but congrats to lipari and tiernan.

Two 10K races in eight days are pretty difficult when three of the top five runners are milers. Ideally, the team would have enough depth so that Marcus could strategically sit out middle distance guys like Williamsz and Denault. Schools like Colorado, BYU, Oklahoma State, and Wisconsin can afford to do things like that.

At least Georgetown didn't win.

The NCAAs did not turn-out like one would have wanted. Tiernan and Lipari were outstanding. And McEntee not bad. Congratulations. The question now though is what does this mean going forward?

The men have shown promise, but what do they have to do to improve? But finishing 18th is like getting a hand shake on that first date. You didn't even get to first base. There are no Chesereks or Tiernans out there that will turn the program around immediately. I believe Cheserek, Saarel (Colorado) and Tiernan might be the only freshmen leading their teams. Cheserek has great range; Saarel was an outstanding miler. Won the Dream Mile, last year. Tiernan? My point: It is possible to come up with the requisite mile / XC talent that might improve the team next year, but is that feasible? Otherwise one can point to a team of undergrads, who will all be back, next year. Will they improve that much so that they are a factor - say top five - next year? I do not believe any of the other runners on the team are capable of breaking into the top seven; so we are looking at the current seven

What is the story on Tully? Is he an athletic senior or junior?

What happened to Lampron?

The women's status is obviously more dire. They lose Lipari and Akande and there is apparently no one ready to step-up and replace them. One can expect significant improvement - especially from Williams, Bungo and even Harris - but is that enough? Again, where are enables & Chapman ...?

Aside: I suspect Venables is on serious $. Too bad Gina cannot take the $ away and give it someone more deserving...

Again, like the men, can a recruit be found that might transform the women? The outstanding U.S. girls are signing and VU is not in the mix. Note: Mackenzie Barry, who finished tied for 2nd at NJ Championships, is going to Providence. However, they lose their numbers 1, 2 & 5.

Like TFE, I am glad that G'town did not win. For some reason, I have begun to dislike them a lot. Has nothing to do with their out-recruiting VU. Has more to do with an attitude. Really do not like them. But they only lose their #4 out of their top seven. Even if they recruit no one else, they are one of the favorites for next year and better than VU - unless VU recruits some dynamite females.

Have some thoughts to be posted under "Recruiting for 2014 - General."
