I'm sure most in this newsgroup don't care but I know our moderator for one is a big Dylan fan so I'm curious to hear his thoughts on this next release:

This is certainly the holy grail available for purchase for a mere $600. Every single note Dylan recorded during his greatest song writing period, 1965-1966.

It still pales in comparison to the 80 disc set the Grateful Dead are releasing-Pure craziness.

In other news, the new Keith Richards & David Gilmour solo albums are both very solid, especially Keith's. I highly recommend both to any benchwarmers who like decent music and who don't simply follow the hippity hoppity crowd.

Can't see spending $600 on that ... the way they package all these bootleg series and charge an arm and a leg for them is outrageous. Probably better to go halfsies with someone who prefers the mp3 versions - then you are only spending $300 ... still ... Disc #18 is probably interesting and listening to each disc once or twice is probably interesting to see the progression of the song to what was eventually released - but 18 CDs seems nuts. Maybe do the 6 Disc version and then wait until stumbling upon the opportunity to hear disc 18.

Yeah I think the 6 disc set is the way to go. I bought the super deluxe Basement Tapes back in the spring and I think that was 6 discs. Some cool stuff. Personally I think the bootleg series have all been great. Maybe if the price drops on Amazon at some point going half on the 18 disc set might not be a bad idea. I bet there are some very interesting versions on that set.

I thought this thread was going to be about Dylan Painter, Toby Keith and the Gilmour girls.

I think I have all the bootleg series at thiss point. If he sells out these deluxe versions he will gross $3M off a bunch of old studio tapes before selling any of the other 3 versions.
