Hate to get serious on this topic as it is a very sad occurrence. But, a few years ago, I was a casual acquaintance of coach John Vogan, and know he was well liked and respected by the kids he coached both in football and baseball. I feel certain that he would never condone such bullying or any other such actions as described in the media. And, although he is catching much of the blame, feel that he had no knowledge of what transpired at Conestoga.

Woof. My brother played at Conestoga under the same coach. I have a hard time believing he would allow this to happen, but how could he not know that some kind of hazing was going on?
It's unfortunate. That sort of thing didn't happen when my brother was there. It is pretty funny to see people from lesser (non-Main Line) areas of the greater CoP puffing their chests in internet comment sections.

I know other guys, like my best friends, who would have gotten out of there the minute an upperclassman shoved a broomstick up their butt. But I didn't. I got to admith the truth. It turned me on.
Puffing their chests? What do you mean, are they saying this is wrong? I see Conestoga people saying this is a matter of jealousy because they are "the best public school in Pennsylvania," whatever the hell that means. You're more delusional than 2012 Penn State fans.
Played at CHS in the 90s...returned to coach there from 1999 to 2003.
Have to say that while I never witnessed anything like this...the lack of "institutional control" and decision to hire and retain who they did in many positions does not make this a surprise to me.

also...there were many an atomic situp performed in the mid-90s...but that stuff was viewed differently back then.
