They all ran well. From memory the splits were something like Lipari 3:22+, Verdier 52+, Akande 2:04+, and Reid 4:40+. Tennessee was second. Oregon did not run.

I originally planned on coming down this today to catch the DMR, but things just didn't pan out. I will leave very early tomorrow morning to catch the next two days. Is Oregon holding back to load up in the other events?

Probably, they ran 3:33 in the 4x400.

They have the depth and talent to win the SMR, 4x800, and 4x1500 if they enter them.

They did all run well. Reid got her anchor handoff in great shape. She stayed close to the Tennessee runner until she unleashed her kick. Look tight until Sheila pulled away. The girls were ecstatic after their win.

For perspective, the national, Penn, and Villanova DMR records came in 1988. Franey ran 3:21+ and Lipari was close to that. Verdier's split was a shade faster than Bennet's as was Akande's over Halliday. The difference was that Reid was smartly running to win today, and Huber was running to set a record. If Reid had been pushed, it would have been interesting to see how close she would have come to Huber's 4:29.9 and how close they would have come to those records. Reid was smart to conserve for the next races.

Lipari's split was the second fastest 1200 of the day, as was Verdier's 400. Akande's split was the fastest 800 of the day.

Winning that would be an awesome effort by the women. For reference, check out Oregon 800 times, which also include the national champion.

4x1500 was a laugher. Oregon really pushed the pace in the second leg, nobody matched it and Reid ends up third after trying to close the gap.

Just saw the results for the HS girls DMR from last night. Too bad that Gina couldn't get Haley Pierce from Tatnall (DE). That girl is a stud. She ran a 4:42 anchor to blow away the field. Tatnall ran 11:28 to beat the Penn Relays record by over 4 seconds and beat highly touted North Shore (NY).

Angel Piccirillo is big time. She lost to Mary Cain, but oh well.. Cain ran an all time great mile.

I said one more. More specifically, I'm talking about potential anchors/NCAA champions.
