My phone, can't even tell you if it is an iPhone 4 or 5 at this point (I think it is a 5s?) finally cracked after a year and a half with no case. It is still working but there are several cracks and it is just annoying so I am going to get a new one. With that being said, what is the latest version I should be going for and is it money?

If your carrier is AT&T go for a 6 or 6+ upgrade with the massive discount. You should be eligible after 18 months under contract from the old phone.

I have 5S. Works perfectly, but the battery life has finally become unacceptable. Company pays for new phones and my upgrade went into effect yesterday. Ordered the 6 (not big version), should be here tomorrow.

I agree, the battery life is a joke on the 5s. Is the 6 better? Is the 6 the latest version? What is the difference between 6 and 6+? Yes, I know what google is but I prefer hearing it from you guys. Thanks.

I hear the battery sucks regardless. My phone is just two years old so I figure the battery is toast. Hoping the 6 has a solid battery for at least a year then I'll reevaluate.

As far as I can tell, the only difference between 6 and 6+ is the 6+ has a bigger screen.

I have never had a problem with the battery on my iPhone 6. But then again, I have a usb charger in my car and at my desk.

The difference between the 6 and the 6+ is size. The 6 + is too big in my opinion. It's basically an iPad mini.

I have a 5s personally and 6 for work. I prefer the size of the 5s if you want to use a case. The 6 starts to get really big with a case.

Yeah, I think the 5S is a decent size for a phone. Not crazy about the feel of the 6 when I've held others, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Finally have to buy another arm band to hold iphone while running. I've been jamming my 5S into the 4S holder. It barely fits, so I guess it's time for an upgrade.

I went from a 4 to 6+ in September, mainly because the home button stopped working on my old phone. I find the functionality of the 6+ largely the same as on my old 4. The only two meaningful differences I recall between the 6 and the 6+ are screen size and something about the image stabilization being better on the 6+, the latter of which I didn't care about.

Speed, apple pay, bunch of other features. Get the 6 with 64gb if you use it for music. Fills up way too quickly otherwise.

I'm debating between the 6, 6+, or waiting for the next gen 6S/6+S.

The 6+ is massive, I've tried out a few with cases on and it's ridiculously big. You almost need a man-purse to carry it around unless you're wearing a jacket everyday.

I have the same power issue on the 5S, I have two chargers constantly in use (home & work) plus a portable battery: otherwise it's still working quite well.

Another phone question - I changed jobs back in January but part of my leaving my last place of employment involved a transition period of 4 weeks so I kept my work phone and they paid for it for 6 months after I left. I call AT&T and they want me to pay for the reasonably new iPhone 6 - got it in the fall - outright for 550 bucks. They won't let me roll it into a new plan (it was previously being paid for monthly). Can I take my number and go to a new company? Anyone have experience with AT&T doing something like that? It's BS and makes me want to switch providers as opposed to wasting my time.

Did the 4 not have the invisible touch floating on screen home button option? The 5 does. My home button went on my 5S about 2 months ago and I'm still 5 months away from my contract being up. I'm not paying what amounts to an extra $500+ to break the contract and get the 6+ when I can deal with the minor home button annoyance and not waste the cash. And yes the battery life on the 5S is indeed balls. Location services, notifications and apps all need to be turned off when not in use or it drains like an MF. As for cases - SlimArmor is the way to go. Sleek and durable.

Gdog, I do not know. Perhaps I could have done that. I can get a new phone for free every two years, and I'd had that one for four, so when it broke I just decided to get a larger screen.
The point about Apple Pay is a good one- I do take advantage of that feature and could not do so on a 4.

Still working fine........

Yes you could but you'll have to get it unlocked. I would also ensure that the phone is reset and you are not accessing any of your old company data.

Left the family biz? Was it amicable? Did you stay in the same industry?

Mrs Dimer has the same issue. I think the 4 has that too. More than the cost of the phone to fix it. I think it's cause is just debris sneaking in there.

I am amazed when I see people with an iphone 6 or 6+ without any type of case on it. I don't know how people grip it without one. I have pretty long fingers and it would be on the ground 5 times a day without a thin cover.

This has to do with a change in the liability going from the company to you. Its an annoyance when switching from a company paid for plan to a personal plan. Not sure why they'd make you pay the whole nut but wireless companies are thieves which you can use to your advantage. Since its harder to get people to switch they offer pretty good incentives when you do. I'd transfer my number to verizon, take advantage of their incentives, get their iphone, transfer everything and do a factory restore (which yes doesn't prevent some hacker asshat from getting you old phone and restoring your data) and send it back to AT&T. Its never worth it to pay full price for a phone.

I ended up sticking with the iPhone 5s. I don't understand why people walk around with broken screens for so long when you can get it fixed in 15 minutes. I appreciate all the advice but the iPhone 6 was just too big for me. The 5 is as big as I want to go. The battery still sucks.

Been using the Iphone 6 for about 15 hours now. Hard to get used to the bigger phone (upgraded from 5s). But 5s battery pushed me too far after 1.5 hours of pandora @gym brought me below 50% by 7am.
