PCL Boys Basketball Final

Slight lean to NG. Have to ride them until someone else beats them. Plus, coach is going for 400th win tonight. Off the top of my head, this might be closest opponent is to them in last seven years. Roman already beat them once and have the size/length in backcourt to defend NG talented guards. I picked NG, 67-62, but not overly confident with that.

No, I won't be going. Starts too late, wife works late, Mondays just aren't a good night.

regardless of outcome both teams play public league schools for state seeding on friday at St Joes. i think 4-5 games that day.

Roman vs MLK
NG vs imhotep Charter
Conwell Eagan vs Auderine

not sure its one game only per team that weekend or its a tourney for seeding.

I think it's just a triple-header. It's not a weekend tourney. All of these teams are only playing in designated class after tonight. Also, Audenreid isn't the 2A Pub rep anymore. I think it's Friere Charter now. The geniuses running the Pub had them playing in a class below their actual class. Expect a PCL sweep.

Sports Boss of Nothing - Long before the PCL And Public League was allowed in the PA states they used to play a game between the PCL and PL winners at the palestra, of course there was a series of shootings at the games and in the areas outside the palestra and the game was stopped in the early 90s or late 80s. Burrs do you remember that?

It's been Wed/Mon set-up for awhile now. Part of the reason is securing the Palestra. Always possible for Penn to be playing at home on Friday/Saturday night. Also, they like to spread the games out before state playoffs begin and avoid conflicts with Philly Pub playoffs.

novaball, allow me to get you back on track here :)

City title games stopped in 1980 and there hasn't been a true one played since then. What we have now are city title games between classes 2A, 3A, and 4A. And they have happened since the 2009 season.

There wasn't a "series of shootings" at these games. In '98, only the second year the Philly Pub hosted a title game at the Palestra since '80, there was a shooting outside of the Palestra after the title game featuring Franklin/FLC. A 21-year old was shot and killed. This had nothing to do with the PCL. However, the Palestra stopped hosting games there for the city leagues for 8 years. The PCL used the Apollo at TU for three years and LaSalle for 5 years. Since 2007 the Palestra has hosted the PCL semifinals and boys/girls finals.

The Philly PUB hasn't been back. They have used the Liacorous Center recently and prior to that St. Joe's, LaSalle, and Philly Community. Prior to this they used the Civic Center when it was still open.

More like 30 years ago. NG is on the verge of closing I hear.
It's being propped up financially by some outside foundation. Last week the i read some puff piece about how they're trying to turn it into the region's best college prep school. I laughed.

NG a prep school? sounds like the intention there is to keep the basketball program alive. im pretty sure NG isnt on the same level as the interact schools when it comes to academics. or the friends league schools for that matter.
