Going with Chase Itley in this go-around. A 10-game road trip in STL (4), FLA (3), and ATL (3). I'm expecting Utley to perform a little better in this stretch. Here we go...

AVG = .275
OB% = .330
OPS = .725
Extra Base hits = 3.5
RBIs = 4.5
Runs = 5.5
BBs = 4.5
Hits = 9.5

Discuss!

And a new one for Burrs consideration
HBP = 0.5 OVER

Utley 0-4 last night. Dude has zero luck going for him right now. Hit three balls hard, two to the wall in right-center (good catch by Jay on first one). His 4th AB was a semi line drive that SS had to jump to catch. Not hit especially hard, but a couple feet to left/right and it gets in for a hit.

I need some next level analysis on Chase's BABIP, factored in with the luck component, so I know when things will even out and become statistically significant.

burrs - can we get a update on this? Utley continues to hit balls hard but just can't buy a hit. Cards have made some great grabs on balls he has hit to the wall in the gap this series. A couple years ago a lot of these gappers would be HRs so he clearly has lost some power.

Howard with some good AB's lately too, would have been 4-4 if not for the damn shift last night. But teams would be stupid to not shift against him. He either K's, hits a HR, or hits a grounder (weak, hard hit etc) to the left side.

***Not in line-up today.

I actually saw today that his babip was .105, which is the lowest they have ever seen for years for someone with a minimum of 70 AB's.

Putting Jeff Francoeur into the middle of a lineup is understandable in the following scenarios:
1. mental handicap
2. Jeff Francoeur is holding a gun to your head
3. CAP SPACE, PIECES and UNLIKELY CONDITIONAL DRAFT PICKS

Before yesterday 7 straight games as the clean-up hitter. He was 3-25, 0 RBIs, and 0-9 RISP. Yes, seven straight games.

Yesterday, moved to 5-hole. 0-3, 0-2 RISP.

And I'm not one of these Ruf needs to play so we can see guys. More than likely, he's just a bench guy, who can spot start vs LH pitching. Plus, be a decent RH pinch-hitter type. I get that. But for this CHEEK manager to run Francoeur out there and bat him clean-up for that long is just infuriating. It makes no sense that you can't at least split the games between him and Ruf. Geez, be fair and sensible. Who cares if Ruf isn't an ideal RF. it's not like they're in a pennant race.

The Phillies aren't good, but the manager makes them worse.

Ohh yea, but another thing. Stop all the fukking bunting, especially with two on, no one out, in the third inning of a 0-0 game. Dumb!

Funny how Howard draws the ire of most CoPers but Utley has been as bad or worse this year. Guy is barely hitting .100. He should retire. Not even trolling. He really should.

Retire? Blasphemy. He helped them win FIVE STRAIGHT DIVISION TITLES.

Update:

Avg: .069 (2-29)
OB%: .129 (4-31)
OPS: .301 (.129 + .172)
EB Hits: 1

Fun Fact: Utley could go 10-10 and still be batting under .200 for the season.

Odds that Ruf is in the lineup tonight? He has been swinging a (relatively) hot bat lately. Perfect opportunity for that dunce of a manager to sit him and get Sizemore some ABs. Francouer had a nice game last night - but again, he should not be taking ABs from Ruf.

OK lineup is posted, Ruf is in. Utley sitting for Hernandez who had a nice game last night too.

Revere
Galvis
Asche
Howard
Ruf
Herrera
Hernandez
Ruiz

Chad Billingsley making his first start in 2 years tonight.
