I am going to have a 3-4 month gap between selling my current house and moving into my new one. What's the best way to find a decent place for short term in the CoP area? Don't want to live in a sh*thole, especially since NickleDimerIII is coming during this gap.

I've been living in corporate apartments for the last few years in various cities around the US. I use Oakwood. They have 30 day leases and offer furnished and unfurnished. They have properties all over the place.

Probably going to be doing the same thing next year, been looking into this some. Lots of options in the KOP area, from studio all the way through 3-BD townhomes. Expect to pay 10-15% more for furnished units, but it's a clean in/out as far as utilities and whatnot.

Not talking from experience......but, Korman Suites has 1-3 bedroom apts in several locations in the Del Valley and I think they start at 30 day rentals.....think they are furnished also.

Abrams run is worth checking out. I may have a good deal for you if you want to live next to a temple guy.

ND - why not just move in with family? You will save money and always have help with the kids.

That's the obvious choice, but the only local family that we have is moving to Pittsburgh this summer. I am a non-native CoPer. Otherwise, everyone I am related to and know would have lived their entire lives within the same 10 mile radius (plus Wildwood).

Airbnb can go that long. Looking into a few options there. Some people don't scale their pricing appropriately for longer stays though.
Got a good online resource or contact info, LGN?

Korman was definitely one. But you can just search for corporate apartments on apartments.com or the like and they'll pop up.

Two moves, temporary housing and a new kid. Good luck as that's tough. Furnished corporate housing would seem be the best option. If you're doing new construction/construction on the new place remember to factor in the extra month or two as those are never completed on time. Simplify and don't worry about saving money. Any money saved will be spend 3x over in angst at a time you don't need it.

Thanks for the advice, gents. It's going to be a sh*tshow. I expect half a head of gray hair by Christmas.
When does this all happen? When is NDIII coming? when is the move? How far are you moving? We need details. You're going to be even more bitter than usual. Congrats on the kid.

Is that 3 kids under 5 including an infant? Been there - that is just brutal. But far more brutal looking back than when you are actually in it. Good luck with everything. You should quit your job in the middle of all this too. Just complete the trifecta.

It's gonna be just two kids. We won't be outnumbered - i might castrate myself to avoid that. Will have to pawn the dogs off on family till this ship gets stabilized.

side note: I have no idea what Dmill's avatar is. Miroslav Brjoza? Dario Saric?

ND: Are you a true CoPer or from Delaware County? You always struck me as a Havertown or Drexel Hill guy?
