Very cool.
If she is coming soon, could it be around Penn Relays weekend? Penn Relays captures the best in track enthusiasm and participation. Maybe it will resonate with her...? Also it represents a level of competition that might appeal to one with championship ambitions.
It is also good that she has been talking to Sonia, who understands the importance of competition to bring out your best. And why the program at VU under Marcus and Gina is a good one
University College Dublin (UCD) has attracted some of the better runners in Ireland. More recently they have granted a sports scholarship to Karl Griffin - 1:49.8 (800, indoors, 2014). Believe Mark English attends UCD.
Article says she has never been beaten during her school career in Ireland. However, she did finish 8th (2:06.2) to Aislinn Crossey's 4th (2:03.9) in Eurpean Junior, last year. Anita Hindriksdottir was winner (2:01.1)
I believe VU's has to confront the sense of homesickness - or distance from home - that may be more prevalent amongst young women than young men. Remember the outstanding middle distance runner from Australia, a couple of years ago, Brooke Simpson, who only lasted one year? And Siobhan Coleman, a distance runner from Scotland, who only lasted one year? That might be the constraint in this process?
Nevertheless, this is very good news.
