An awesome series thus far. Never been more than a one goal lead for either team at this point. After game 1 I thought Chicago in five. After game 3 it looked like Tampa in 5.

I vastly underestimated this Tampa team. Perhaps it's a just a bad matchup for the Hawks, but I thought they would neutralize the attack more. The defense has made some bone headed plays by Chicago, Crow was awful in games 2-3, and Kaner hasn't been able to do much. Q ahead shifted around the lines a ton, and probably more than I would like, but if he can find a combo that can get results out of Kaner and Sharpy I think Cgicago takes the edge. Cannot wait for Game 5.

As a Tampa fan I still feel very good about our situation. With Bishop back in goal I like our chances next game. Chicago has no answer for tampa's speed

They have 4 really good D men and forwards that work their ass off as an answer. People are always saying how Chicago has no answer for this or for that. (Anaheim's size was the last round) but they find a way. 2-2 with no production from Kane and only a little from Hossa. They are going to be a tough out. TMJ - you are saying a lot of the same things I was saying during NYR series. TB is a tough team. A hard team to play because they play a few ways well. It's a great match up for the hockey fan.

Tampa has fans? Never met one in person.

I think the Hawks have the capability to play any number of styles. The longer these series go on the stronger they look. Game 5 is obviously pivotal but I think it's going 7 regardless.

And the goalie makes no difference for TB. The Lightning didn't lose because Bishop sat.

Allow me to check Piper's fan credentials.

Piper, were you or are you currently a Tampa (surrounding area) resident? Let's get to the bottom of this....

Tampa has many fans in fact 5000 sit outside during both home and away games and watch the games on the big screen. The games are consistently sold out. I get package tickets. And yes Burrs I have a place in the Tampa area. I am a big hockey fan so I adopted them about 10 years ago. Great crowd at games. Lots of Canadians and midwesterners transplant to Tampa so it has become a great hockey crowd. The style they play is conducive to fan support. They probably have the best owner in sports as well. Love the no other team jersey rule in the club section.

I totally disagree about the not loosing because of the goalie change. They played a much more defensive style than in the past to protect the 20 year old. The Hawks stole one with their goalie I have no clue how they didn't get one past in the last 5 minutes of that game it looked like 6 on 2.

They played the same way in games 5 and 7 in the semi, and they played basically the same way in games 1 and 3. Bishop in net in all those games. Only opened it up a bit more in game 2. They had 6 PPs and they really didnt move the puck much, and they were not at all good enough in the circle. Goalie or style had nothing to do with last night IMO. 0-6 and Stamkos missing a yawning net with about :30 to go did though.

Piper, I need more info to properly assess. What do you mean, "I have a place in Tampa area"?

So you live there? Or is it a little family getaway and you live someplace else for most of the year?

Hey Burrs you've already ruined on SCF thread. You're not welcome in this one.

Hey Burrs you've already ruined on SCF thread. You're not welcome in this one.

Not trying to ruin. Just messing around.

You do know that in the other NHL thread the exchange could of went like this....

I'll paraphrase..

Burrs: Why aren't all the games on NBC?

Whoever: Because NBC executives feel that American Ninja Warrior is a better option on a week night competed to games 2 & 3.

End of convo.

My overall point is that it takes more than one poster for a thread to lose control. As usual I'll accept 50% of the responsibility.

nothing out of stamkos so far. they open it up more it home. should be another great game saturday.

I believe they were 1st or 2nd in the league this year. In playoffs their record is better on the road. They are scoring much more at home though. Be tougher for Hawks to match lines. Hopefully Stamkos and Tyler Johnson can get going.

Ya he gave the game away with that blooper reel play. Was at the game tonight. Fun series to watch I have tickets for game 7 so hopefully they pull off the win in Chicago. Stamkos can't seem to get a shot on net. He missed a bunch of opportunities tonight.

I don't think this thing goes back to Tampa. Hawks have figured out how to deal with Tampa's pace and have adjusted.

Unless you get a poor game from Crow. But he's been outstanding (early mistake notwithstanding).

It's Chicago........the hockey gods are tired of teams from cities that don't have naturally occurring ice winning the Cup.

We shall see. I think the Tyler Johnson injury has had a major impact he is not even close to the player he is and stamkos can't hit the net with his shot. Anything can happen these games have all been one goal games. So it just takes one break to win a game like we saw last night.

My boy 55 with some key turnovers in the game. Thank God the Flyers unloaded him.

20,000 fans waiting to get in to watch the game tonight on the scoreboard tv in Tampa I tried to link a picture. Hoping tampa can pull it off

First two goal lead of the seies was tonight. No idea what Sustr was doing on that Keith goal.

Chicago Blackhawks have been around for almost 100 years and they have never had it better. Toews an absolute beast. Guy can go weeks not making a mistake and if I am creating the ultimate hockey player in the lab, he's it. Helluva player. All the little things and lot of big things too: didn't mind see Brad Richards lift that thing one bit. Great team on a great run.

Awesome. Never in doubt. Now let's see how the reconfigure the lineup to get another cup out of this group. Sad to say but I think Sharp and Crow may be out.

yea, the Hawks are ****ed going forward. $66 million already committed and only 8 forwards, 3 DMen, and 3 goalies signed next year.

not that they really care after 3 in 6, but still.

There is always the talk of how the salary cap is going to tear a great team apart yet the teams always seem to figure it out. We had this discussion earlier in the thread about Tampa. I guess its something for other fans of less talented teams to point to for some hope.

Irrefutable truth. He's built hockey teams in China FROM THE GROUND UP.

whoa there Charlie, not sure why you feel the need to take shots at people. Tampa sucked for years. lets not act like the first time they've done anything in a decade means you are now the only hockey mind allowed to share your opinion.

Chicago is ****ed. plain and simple. go look at their salary structure for 2015-16. Tampa will probably be OK but it will be tight.

Hawks will lose 5 or 6 of their unrestricted free agents, trade Sharp and see if they can move Bickell. I would be surprised if they try to move Crow.

TB's cap issue is manageable for now, but not much longer. Chi is really in a spot. That's gonna happen when you tie up that kind of money in two players, but as mentioned - it's hard to be upset about much if that's your team. those guys are still young and you can maybe take a year or two of pain to try and get back to a better cap situation - you got Three in six - that buys you a lot of time.

congrats to timo.
Agreed - awesome for him to finally get to hoist the Cup. I am sure it means a lot to him even though he was not an integral part of the team. For him to even come back this season was impressive. Going out a champion is great for him, great way to Finnish his career.

Plenty of young talent to step in. saad is the biggest piece I don't want to lose. Sharp had a great run but it's likely over now unless something crazy happens. Still like the Hawks core for at least a couple more.

No matter what Chicago will have one of the best group of core players in the league.
