what's the deal with the super-tight suits? I just bought a couple of suits from BB Own Make in my normal size and the fit like a girdle. This seems to be the look for a lot of young guys.

Baggy suits are good for people who don't have a FitBit, Fitbit Charge, FitBit Charge HR, Microsoft Band, Garmin, Jawbone, iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, Nike Fuel or an Up3.

You gained weight?

You gained weight?

Maybe a couple pounds but not enough to make these so tight. I'm not skinny by any means but I'm 6'1" and 200 lbs. I'm a 36" waist (35" for jeans). I normally wear a 44L. These are 44L and barely fit over my body - skin tight in chest and shoulders.

I have Fitz fit in 1818 and Golden Fleece in the same size and they fit fine. Maybe it is just an odd cut but I do see a lot of men wearing tight suits (not quite this extreme, though).

I expect this from somewhere like Xpress but not BB. Maybe I just need to size up.

There is definitely a fine line between regular fit and slim fit. I have found that I am for the most part in between. If I get a regular fit I need to get it taken in a bit, and slim fit sometimes gets to be too tight. The guy I get my suits from has an in between fit - its called James Bond fit and that is what fits me the best.

How are you 6'1 200 and wearing a 44L? Look in to a slim fit it will change your life. I lost a ton of weight and am down to about 6'0 175. I am down to a 38R Slim Fit.

I'm not sure I understand the question. I am easily a 44L. Are you saying I should be bigger or smaller? I have worn 45 and 46 and had them taken in at times (RL Polo, for example, seems to run smaller). Or are you saying I should be wearing a smaller size? (Impossible unless I lost weight). Maybe I am more like 6'0.5" now that I'm old but I don't think that would make a difference.

Maybe it is just a style thing. To me, this looks ridiculous.

I'm 6' 3/4". I bought three size 44 slim fit suits when i weighed about 200 lbs. They fit more like a regular suit and not terribly slim. I subsequently lost 12-15 lbs and the last suit I bought was a size 40 (classic fit, not slim), and it fit fine.

Personally I think slim fit looks better but are uncomfortable.

When I bought my first suit as an adult (22ish), I was 185 lbs and a 42L. Maybe it's my boobs.

Slimmer the better baby. Brooks Brothers and pretty much everyone with any sense of style is going slimmer. I'm usually a 40 regular but now even into some 42 slims.

No, I stay like a fine tuned machine pretty much year round. Save right after x-mas for about 6 weeks.

Proper slim fit is fine, when done wrong it looks bad. High armhole, waist suppression, etc. are fine, but an x crease at the button looks stupid. The slim fit trend has hit the apex. Lapels are trending slightly wider, and a slightly looser fit will follow over the next couple of years.

You mean the slim-fit suits with jogger pants aren't the next big thing?

As an aside, how big of a loser do you have to be to jump on trends like jogger pants? I swear that some of the clothing companies put stuff out just to laugh at the people with no taste who buy into it.

I wear Fitzgerald cut Brooks Brothers now. Lost a lot of weight. It fits like a "tailored" fit suit should fit.

Slim fits are dumb. Narrow lapels, short pant lenghts. It looks like your suit shrunk.

Buy classic clothing that fits you correctly and it will never go out of style.

I agree. You can lean toward the trends, but generally stay within the normal range. Especially if you're over 30.

"Lean toward the trends" is spot on. Had been wearing only suits for a long time and was thinking about doing biz casual for the warmer months this year. All the old pants look like parachute pants at this point. You gotta at least go semi-slim because the older stuff has massive space the whole way through, might even be the worst in the lower leg area.

On suits, I'm fine with the better fit but I can't stand the super short shrunken jacket look. Prefer an XL for the extra length, which I need in the arms and which I prefer on the whole.

A nice suit cut by a nice tailor never goes out of style. You purchase crap that doesn't fit you'll always look like a graboni.
