Only 7 people killed in 2 days this weekend. Seems like Mayor Rahm is doing a grea job. Thanks Obama!
"This is not a fair statement, where all these people are killing each other is not really in the city, it's just that it is included in the city limits." - every person in Chicago.Only 7 people killed in 2 days this weekend. Seems like Mayor Rahm is doing a grea job. Thanks Obama!
I wonder if Chicago will vote against the terms of their bailout when they "officially" recognize their bankruptcy?"This would all go away if the government paid corporations and their white employees to move to these neighborhoods." - GoP policy wonks
61% in 2012, 65% in 2013.what percentage of the homicides in the inner cities are drug and/or gang related? 95% 4% robberies and the 1% from a stray bullet?
Correct. People make choices in a vacuum apart from their environment and history.place blame on people for their own behavior.
What I said above.10 killed over the weekend. While nobody says it isn't fair because it all happens in poor neighborhoods, the reality is that people don't care as much because it hasn't impacted other neighborhoods. There was much more of an uproar over a handful of robberies on Michigan Ave. by small groups of youngsters than there is over gun violence. If it isn't in people's backyard they just don't care as much. Murders might as well be taking place in Houston as far as most middle class and rich people feeling it is happening in their city. Unless it makes people feel unsafe they just don't pay attention, and none of this makes people outside the neighborhoods where it happens feel unsafe. Sad but true.
One of the 7 killed was a 7 year old boy. The killing happened after midnight and the bullet was intended for the boy's father, who had been arrested 45 times and was a high-ranking gang member. The chief of police made a very direct and not so PC public statement: "If the father hadn't been who he was, the boy would still be alive right now."
Tragic.
On a brighter note, I was in Chicago a few weeks ago for work. That is a friggen awesome city in the summer.
It isn't that people think it isn't fair or isn't really in Chicago; it is just that, like a certain poster thinks about the Class of 2011, people just don't give a damn. What I said above.
Very sad but also kind of ironic that this guy was anywhere near his 7 year old son.
NN1188 - get to Wrigley field or at least Wrigleyville? best park in all of baseball.

Yeah people pissing in cups and bathroom lines 200 people deep. Great park.
Not too many. If you've been there and don't understand why it is a dump, I'm not here to change your mind. You're certainly not going to make a convincing case that it isn't. Many people enjoy a few in Wrigleyville pre-game then walk in and see the scoreboard and the ivy and get all giddy thinking Roy Hobbs might be in the lineup. Good for them. If you have a really good seat it is a nice place to watch a game. If you have one of the many, many not so great seats, the view is poor and the rest of the stadium is well below average. Hence the rennovations. Hopefully it will be a better experieince once they update it.How many beers do you drink during the course of a game?
You're explaining why it's a dump in terms of food service. In terms of watching a baseball game, it's a 10. Having a beer and a dog are a nice side benefit of the game, but they're about 5% of the equation. Spend 2 grand and have someone deliver you crab legs and single malt in the Steinbrenner seats if you want convenience. Not too many. If you've been there and don't understand why it is a dump, I'm not here to change your mind.
I went to the Phillies game on Thursday night. The Phillies offered tickets for $15, and parking was $16. With the way they've been playing, it's no wonder parking is more expensive than going into the game.the only thing that bothers me about Phillies games is the $16 or $20 for parking. thats a crime.
