Purchased a new sectional couch over the weekend...having it delivered tomorrow morning. We live in a garden style apartment building on the first floor.

what is the rightful amount to tip the delivery guys (if at all?)

Zero. You already paid for delivery in the furniture price.
Classless, CoP mentality.
Thank you. Having read some of your posts, I take it as a compliment. Your "Squatty Potty" post was the epitome of class.

On my Corporate account, i usually bump it up a little from the suggested amount especially if I'm under the da

For my personal account, I just use the suggested amount. If I only ordered one thing/my order is small, I might increase it a little because otherwise its a really small delivery tip. I'll If its bad weather, I generally add a little more too.

Average $30 order for Chinese - $5
Average $40 order for Thai/Sushi - $6-8
Average $50 order for Indian./other - $10 but never higher

I'm an aggressive tipper: 20 is very nice. It's one piece of furniture.

Might as well just go out to dinner.

I typically do it based on the weather. I'll do whatever the default amount is if its fine out, and go up to $5+ depending how crappy it is outside.

Similar for me NorCal. Usually go $4-$5 and a little extra if the weather is awful like it's been recently.

I try to pick up as much as possible though. Usually we're only talking a few blocks from my apartment and it can be a lot quicker than waiting for delivery.

When you call in a delivery order and the restaurant includes a "Delivery Fee" of a buck or two, does this alter how much you tip the delivery guy?

Not for me, generally the person delivering the food has no say in the "Delivery Fee". Although, I rarely get food delivered, usually pick up.

Do you tip when you do pick-up? (Just curious, I usually pop a dollar or two in the jar if one is there)

No, I'm paying for the food and prep, which in my eyes is in the cost. Just as I don't tip at starbucks, chipotle, etc.

Any of you big tippers tip your mail or UPS delivery persons? Or your trash collectors? Or your auto mechanic? I don't.

I must admit I do tip my barber and the girl who washes my hair before the cut.

I tip my mailman at Christmas, but not the UPS guy because it's never the same one.

Tip trash collectors with a case of beer once or twice a year. They will pick up anything I put on the curb.

If I had a classic car or something that required a regular mechanic to keep it operable, I would probably tip him too. But I don't.

Barber gets 5 bucks a cut.

Depends. If it's a place I pickup from often then every now in then I'll throw a $5 in the jar or something like that. Typically I don't though, I figure I'm doing most of the work.
