Jacksonville St crushed Sam Houston on Saturday. SHSU, as most know, is loaded with transfers. Apparently, JSU also has their share, During the telecast announcer mentioned JSU had 5 transfers from SEC teams, 3 on the O line. Didn't mention how many more from outside SEC. The number of schools bringing in large #'s of transfers seems to be growing. If it continues, I believe it will be increasing difficult for teams that don't follow that trend, like us, to go deep into the playoffs. These transfer heavy teams are bringing in some really good talent. A good coach who can blend them in, has a significant advantage. Keeler can bring them in but he has trouble coaching them up. His eeking out a win over us last year with a missing John Robertson is a case in point, as was his losing to us twice with teams loaded with transfers and a future All Pro QB at the helm. Saturdays beat down by JSU another example. Championship game should be a dandy. Both teams really looked outstanding in their semi-final wins. Hope I'm wrong about the transfer issue, otherwise it sure will make it very difficult for us to get deep into the playoffs and win another Championship.

I think you are dead on with the transfer issue. I know it caused issues for SAm Houston.

My guess is it gives us a strong recruiting advantage to tell recruits we will not recruit over them with transfers. We then can build chemistry that a "transfer" based program many struggle with.

Keeler looks at his roster each year, lists his weaknesses and then calls any of about 10 A1 coaches in Texas and orders up a new lineman or QB. That then frees a roster spot for that team while eliminating a player that the coach wanted to run off.

Difficult to compete against.

wow, I did not realize JSU had that many transfers, I was very surprised with how JSU manhandled Sam Houston State. The Title game should be a great one.

Think the problem and reason why so many FCS players jump to FBS is the fact that they don't have to sit out a year. If this doesn't change we will continue to see FBS players that are not high on the depth charts to look for a high level FCS program....If Nova doesn't want to get involved, they'll miss out on a bunch of good players.

Love football, but sometimes the negative nancies have a point, we are actually discussing Sam Houston Institute of Technology and Jacksonville State on a Villanova board. Move up or down, FCS is purgatory.

I am happy with the way Coach Talley and his staff recruit and that they pretty much stay with kids they recruit out of high school but am okay with taking an occasional transfer as long as they are able to fit in with Coach Talley's team concept.

Coach T has been very, very successful. He must be doing something right.
