For what it is worth.
East Division - Cincinnati 179
Central Fla135
Temple 116
E. Carolina 105
USF 53
UConn 42
West Division - Memphis 153
Houston 149
Navy 148
Tulane 74
SMU 59
Tulsa 47

With Navy entering, the conference now has 12 teams, 2 divisions, and a championship game. Cincinnati was a run away favorite.

W e might even be favorite against UCONN. How many times do you see an FCS team favored over FBS team.

UCONN wont be looking past us, that's for sure. They are probably going to be pissed off. Should be an even game. We certainly wont get any respect if we lose to them like we did in the media last year with 'Cuse.

Sagarin at the end of 2014 would had had us a 16 point favorite in the road.

Being listed as the favorite would sure light a fire under the Huskies and their coach, who probably already view this game as their "Fiesta Bowl". But shanking a game winning FGA would gain us nothing in the moral victory department.

In 2002 we beat Rutgers I believe 37-19 at Rutgers. I am really hoping for this type of performance. If we want to be able to continue to argue that Villanova can play and compete in FBS, we need a big time performance. UConn might be an FBS team, but they are not very strong.

why are we trying to argue that we can play and compete in FBS? we aren't in FBS, and won't be for the foreseeable future. We are what we are - a really strong FCS team that can trade punches with lower-division FBS schools once a year.

Who is arguing that? We're FCS level - 'nuff said.

Because when I have buddies who went to schools like Tulane, BC, Army, UConn and so on who laugh at me every time I say Villanova is a legit program and I want to show them we can compete. I have told my West Point buddies (I have several) that Villanova would beat Army and they think we are a joke. I would like to beat UConn to show them that many FCS football teams are legit and we aren't some JV league.

*****PLEASE NOTE the schools I listed (Tulane, BC, Army, UConn), they are not Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State. I would never argue that we are on that level, that is just foolish, but can we compete with a lot of the schools ranked probably 35 and below? I certainly think so.

PS - LGN, also, my point is UConn football is ranked like 100 out of 128, I have seen even lower than that. I think a top FCS school should be able to beat a team like this.

It is so very difficult for a FCS team to beat a FBS team. They have so many advantages, such as more bodies, more coaches, playing at home. etc
Coach T has 3 wins over FCS teams. one over Rutgers. two over Temple. First college football game at the Link.Cats beat TU with a FG in OT. In 2003 I think.

Hard to classify Temple in the FBS department. At least Rutgers draws and plays in a good conference.

Don't underestimate Temple this season and for the next couple of years.
Even those two years when Cats beat them they had all the advantages of a FBS team more players, more coaches playing at home, etc. They were not then a strong FBS program. But they still had those FBS advantages. I am proud of Nova's two wins over the Owls. Should be fun in 17 & 18 when we hook up with them again.

No matter how successful the FCS program history is (except NDSU recently) it's still about a 10% chance of beating a established FBS program.

UConn may be down, but they will give Villanova all they can handle on 9/3. IMHO.

Villanova has some issues even though they are highly ranked that a FBS program can and probably will take advantage.

I'm hoping for a close game and to steal one in East Hartford. Be very shocked to see a convincing Villanova win there. Love to see it though.

I think the home field advantage will be minimized for UCONN. Just bought 6 single game seats on the 20-yard line in row 5. Thinking this crowd won't be big at all.
