Villanova 61, Creighton 53

Even though Villanova only shot 6-22 on threes, and got outrebounded 44-28, and even though Creighton was one of the hottest teams in the Big East, having only lost to DePaul in its last 11 Big East games, Villanova hung in there and took control of this game at the end.

Villanova certainly did an excellent job in this game cutting to the basket and getting some easy layups.

Villanova had never led by more than 2 until C. Coyer stole the ball with 5:35 remaining in the game, and passed the ball to K. Coyer for a layup. Then Villanova extended the lead to 6, on another K. Coyer layup, assisted by C. Coyer.

Villanova forced Creighton into 16 turnovers.

The ways things worked out, with St. John's getting upset at Xavier, Villanova will open the Big East tournament versus Butler, rather than Creighton, which to me seems like a good thing, because would you really want to play the same team two games in a row?

That was a good win even though we didn't hit the treys; The tournament
