other than the coasts of Carolina's and Geogia the south is a terrible place. never forget that.
Lee would have been deemed a traitor by his home state of Virginia if he had joined the Union when he was asked. State pride and loyalty was a big deal back then.Originally posted by TooTchuisi:

The numbers don't lie. Nine of the ten states that get the most federal dollars and pay the least... can you guess? High divorce rates? South. Murder rates? 5 of the top 7 highest murder rates in US. . Education? SH!TTY.Originally posted by tjc3844:
You guys are funny when it comes to the South and have probably never lived here. Just the usual stereotypical comments.
Another war would have started...guy was a god to his soldiers.Originally posted by TheFoyeEffect:
Robert E. Lee is the tragic hero of the Civil War. He basically prevented a post-surrender armed southern insurgency by himself and if he had been tried and convicted of treason, reconstruction would have been even worse.
higher murder rate and more executions in the south:Originally posted by tjc3844:
Chicago & Detroit have more murders than any southern state.
The guys who is leading the cancer cure, Gromier, is a German doctor with additional education in.....New York. Another guy, is from the mid west and the University of Chicago. And the leader, Henry Friedman? Educated in the State University system, New York.Originally posted by tjc3844:
Yes, Liz, I am from Nj. I've also lived in NYC, LA, ME, FL, NC & SC. I think these guys who want to use a broad brush to criticize the South are just blowing smoke. Chicago & Detroit have more murders than any southern state. If the South is as bad as guys like 5.0 say, then why are people and companies moving in droves from the North to the South. That silly line about southern states sucking tax dollars from northern states doesn't take into account population numbers. Then, we have an instance like the medical research into a cancer cure going on at Duke, a SOUTHERN university. So, A lot of the stereotypical things pushed by northern "elites" are simply not true.
Detroit has the highest non-negligent homicide rate of any city in America with more than 100,000 residents.Originally posted by NickleDimer:

No, it MANDATED by the inability of these states to educate kids adequately and produce talent that creates meaningful jobs, salaries and industries.Originally posted by tjc3844:
You do realize, 5.0, that a lot of what you call "sucking" is mandated by the Federal government?

Mississippi could hang this flag from every building, government or private, in the state and it wouldn't make a difference. The place would still be a $^!+hole.Originally posted by qwe015:
So when are south Carolina and mississippi going to remove the confederate flags from their government buildings?
