They posted a couple videos(each several minutes) of the team landing and arriving at the hotel. Talk about the red carpet treatment! Soldiers welcoming the team walking from their plane to the bus(which is logo'ed up for the final four and has a huge V on it, with another decked out what looks to be official escort car). The hotel looks to have a huge picture in the lobby, lots of Villanova signage, and you can see the hotel staff and GM welcoming Jaynand the team to Houston.

It makes me proud to be a Nova Alum/fan

Hard to put into words, but I watch the clips of the team send away. Jay's crying. Arch and DO are kissing the V. You watch the press conferences about Ryan Wright, see DO up there and it's perfect. It would be unfair to only identify a few moments. Our coaching staff and kids make me proud. We do it the right way. It's funny. I stood on the steps as Jay spoke to us post NC State. Pittsburgh, the place of my birth. It was after the kids came off the bus and you could see the world had ended. For them, for us, it was tough. Jay came out and spoke and said, how the wins and losses don't define our program. We would own it and build. He was right in defeat and seeing this in victory is sweet. This wasn't build in a day and the joy for me personally has been these past three years. The past two weeks was validation of what I've always believed, we were good enough and we did it right. These kids have shown the world and our coach is simply the best coach for our school. I'm overwhelmed. I've watched the Kansas game 7 times. I look forward to seeing many of you in Houston. For those I don't know, look forward to meeting you. I think we're going to do this. Regardless, we have been blessed with a special 3 years and it's not over until it is. Go Cats!

Sacrifices these families make for their sons

I just read the Mike Jenson article on Kris Jenkins and his mom. What an amazing person she appears to be. The part of the article I find most disturbing and actually makes me a little sad is that she had to work in her job at the Amazon distribution center where she couldn't even have her cell phone during the KU game. Can you imagine if that were one of us? I can't even imagine having to work on a Saturday night and missing a Regional Final that our beloved Villanova was playing, but how about if it were your son???

This also reminds me of another story I heard about one of the other key players on this team. I won't name him, but his father drove from the East Coast on Thursday to Louisville for the Miami game, then went home after the game because he had to work of Friday!!!!!! I asked the person who knew this, "Well, why didn't he just take the day off and stay?" To which this person replied, "He can't, he needs the money." I had totally forgotten that many of these parents aren't paid a salary, rather they're paid by the hour. It hadn't occured to me.

As great as this run is for us, I am reminded how many of us are blessed to be able to see our beloved Cats in the Dance. I know many can't, but at least we're not missing our own child's huge game or driving 9+ hours each way (within 24 hour period) to make a game, then do it again a day later.

It strikes that the NCAA needs to do something to offset the money lost for these parents when they want to see their son play - as they should!

Hypothetical Question

What would have transpired if Dylan Ennis' 3 went in, and we escaped NC State?

  • The 2015 Wildcats would have made the Final Four once they got this dud out of the way

  • The 2016 Wildcats would NOT have made it all the way to the Final Four

  • Dylan Ennis would have stayed at Villanova

  • The 2016 Wildcats would have STILL made this Final Four run

  • The 2015 Wildcats would have lost to Louisville in the Sweet 16

  • The 2015 Wildcats would have lost to Michigan St. in the Elite Eight

  • The 2015 Wildcats would have lost to Duke in the FF

Seems to undervalue Nova's scoring inside the 3 point line. I hope OK does too.
I do think that Nova will go after Lattin and OK will go after Daniel. DO needs to stay
out of foul trouble. Lattin is generally is a non factor scoring wise. Make him make shots don't
put him on the line. The Spangler v. KJ match up may be a bigger factor tho. KJ has to play
smart. If he draws Spangler out side he may be able to draw fouls by going around him. Josh should have an advantage too on offense.

I've watched tape of OK's losses to KU and WVU. Most recently, in the B12 Championship, WVU's Miles, face guarded Hield and neutralized him. WVU won a close game. Miles did not come off Hield on screens. He never came off Hield to provide help on anyone else either. Hield couldn't drift to open spots. Miles also over played Hield to his right most of the time to take away his step back jumper. When Hield put the ball on the floor WVU brought help. Hield did not get to the rim. He forced passes back out to the perimeter and committed several turnover trying to. One caveat: Hield had played the day before and scored 39 pts. in the semi finals of the B12 Tourny. He said his legs were fine but who knows?
