Those Refs Will Not Be Advancing

thought it was a poorly officiated game. The worst of the second weekend thus far.

We got some calls. They got some calls. The problem is there were too many wrong calls.

I am always one to favor a block over a charge. But when players are out of control and continually charge, you call a charge. KU had two or three clear charges on drives to nowhere.

I also thought a couple of Graham's calls were iffy. Is the last one a play on? I think KU fans thought so. Either way it is a loose ball foul and should have been a one and one.

I'll be interested to see if any advance.

10:50-7:55 in the 2nd half

After Selden's and-one off the top of the backboard, we saw this:
Bridges with a take to the rim and a left-handed finish
Selden's 3 spins down and pops out
Ochefu posts Lucas and finishes with the left
Chef stuffs Ellis
Selden fouls Hart
Arch uses the screen for a 3
Reynolds challenges a drive and gets the board
Hart nails the 3

From 40-45 to 50-45 in 3 minutes
Jenkins leads the cheers from the bench.

That's the sequence we will watch over and over for years to come.

The most impressive stat of them all

4-18 from beyond the arc.

Everyone thought we'd live and die by the three. Shit, I thought we'd have to shoot "lights out" (again) to knock-off the tournament's top seed. Instead, we were cold from deep. Given how hot we've been, we were bound to come back to earth at some point; no way we could continue shooting at such a high level. Instead of "dying by the three", we go out there and win with good ole fashion defense.. smarts... toughness.. etc.

Sure, beating Iowa and Miami with a CBB version of the Golden State Warriors was incredible and extremely entertaining. But beating the top-seeded Jayhawks despite an overdue cold-streak from three is so much more impressive and satisfying. Kudos to Kansas' defense; very few easy shots. Had a big part to do with the 4-22, yet we found other ways to win.

It has to be a huge confidence booster (yea, like these guys need it).

Now it's time for Buddy Hield's long overdue cold streak.
