Nova-Phila. 2 opinions

Dick Jerardi, Of Phila Daily News and Dave Jones of Harrisburg, Pa. newspaper (covers PSU and BIG) were on Comcast Sports Net Program. Discussed our situation. Short summary. Shocked by what Committee did. Both agreed, the decision breaks with Committee's past history. The word unprecedented was used. Move doesn't make sense unless done to protect No. Carolina in case they might meet Nova in Phila. My thoughts--- It's a wonderful world, the NCAA giving preference to a Academic/Athletic cesspool, North Carolina, and shafting Villanova and their fans. Sweet!!!! I'll add for those who may not be familiar with Jerardi, he knows his college hoops. Additionally, a couple of years ago he spent days, with other selected Journalists, sitting with the Committee to understand the process. I believe he knows his stuff on this subject.

We were a diversion for MSU

When the pairings came out Sunday I thought MSU got screwed out of a one. When I saw that Mark Hollis their athletic director was on the committee I thought he must have been asleep at the switch. After thinking about it some more I came to the realization he was brilliant. First, the switch of Kansas from Chicago to Louisville did not make sense as it was not the closest region for them. So others had to be changed to cover that up. Thus us and X were moved from their logical locations as well as Virginia from Louisville to Chicago. Also aking MSU a two focused everyone's attention on their not being a one not where they were playing.

Chicago is MSU's second home. They have tens of thousands of alumni in Chicago as that is the go to city for employment of MSU grads. When you watch the games in Chicago the arena will be more than 50% MSU fans. THe other three teams will share the rest. It will be an away game for whoever they meet.

North Carolina did not need for us to be moved. As close as we are to the Philly site they still would have had more fans in the arena than us because they have 5 times as many alumni and their alumni travel. I remember the last time we played in Philly in 2006 the casual fans were rooting for our opponent just because we were the one. It was not a forgone conclusion that we would have had a home court advantage over NC.

AJ English

from the same town as Ben Bentil high school wise but didn't go the same one. AJ English from Appoqunimick in Middletown DE and Bentil From St andrews. Did we recruit English at Nova at all? Being from an hour's distance away. He was awesome at Appo . Saw him play. His brother was a troublemaker and never made it as far as AJ. HIs brother is A'jen English. Their dad played for the Washington Bullets back in the day. Surprised he didn't go to a more big time program b/c he is big 6'4 or 6'5 and thick. And great athlete. Will be 1st round pick. maybe someone on here knows if we looked at him. I don't remember hearing that

Schedule for Next Year

Haven't heard anything definitive about the pavilion for next year or what tournament the cats are playing - but I hope Jay and the boys are making plans to really push the ooc schedule. Seems clear the Committee focused on wins against other power conferences - and didn't punish teams for losses and rewarded good wins.

I know we get UVa again - would love to cut out some of the cupcake games and schedule a few more tough games.
