Predictions for Super Tuesday

I'm getting into all of this recent political stuff. From afar, of course, because I'll never wrap myself around this crap to tightly. It's entertaining. I like how Trump comes on saying, "Winning, winning, winning.....And soon the country will be winning, winning, winning." Good stuff from the Trumpster.

Ok, for the board experts + Ball, how will Super Tuesday unfold next week? Give me the juice? Give me the predictions? What's going to happen?

Let's fukking discuss this. Go....

quick scout on Marquette

Haanif Cheatham:
Try to force him to his right.
He can knock down the right corner three-pointer but struggles mightily from the right wing.

Henry Ellenson:
Can nail the corner three-ball but doesn't make much from straight away or the wings. Try to force him to his left because he can eat you up from mid-range on the right side.

JaJuan Johnson:
Makes threes at a high percentage from straight away, the wings, and the left corner - loves to pull up from just inside the FT line or get all the way to the rim.

Traci Carter:
Shoots the three for high percentage from straight away and from the left corner - struggles elsewhere. Not a threat from mid-range.

Sandy Cohen:
Loves the corner 3-ball and finishes in the rim in transition. Shut off his drive and he will pass it - hardly shoots from mid-range.

Luke Fischer:
Other than mid-range jumpers from the elbow and the right side, he is primarily a guy looking to flash open in the paint for quick hitters. Deny him those looks and you can limit his scoring output.

Duane Wilson:
Scores in a variety of ways. Let him have that left corner three-ball - but not the right corner. He hits them at a high rate from the left wing and straight away but not the right wing. Shoots it effectively from mid-range.

Ellenson and Wilson require being covered by the most mobile Villanova defenders - when Ellenson is not on the floor, the best defenders should focus on Wilson and Cheatham.

Though Cheatham and Carter have improved as the season has progressed - they are still turnover prone … speed them up and try to turn them over. If you can't turn them over you need to control the boards … Marquette, despite having good size is not a great Offense rebounding team and they can be beat on the O-Board.

Let's say, hypothetically, you were offered this deal:

You could keep your current job, with current salary, from now til age 65. You are granted tenure meaning you can never be laid off, your job never eliminated, etc. 100% job security from now til you're ready to retire.

But you will never receive a pay raise of any kind. You're locked into your current salary from now till retirement.

Caroline coyer

it appears her career is over at Villanova. There is a post from here and it is vey sad news
She has been a tremendous player and a great ambassador of Villanova basketball.

We need to make sure we all go out to support her on senior day!

She will be missed and it is a darn shame she didn't get to finisher her tenure on her own terms....

I wish her nothing but success!

One possession changed this game

Early second half, Sumner drove and was fouled at the top of the key by KJ. I thought it was a travel, but oh well. KJ picked up his 4th and DO his 3rd right after - all on that same possession. DO picked up his 4th shortly thereafter.

Once DO was on the bench, our D took a huge step back as we had no back line defense for sumner penetration. I think we made a huge mistake not going to zone earlier, but so be it. Also, KJ was an offensive force and he was gone.

X played a great game and I think they win regardless, but those 3 fouls changed the entire complexion of the game

OT: New Scouts at Gonzaga HS

My oldest was accepted to Gonzaga today for the class of 2020 (that still sounds like something from Back to the Future to me). He's a hockey player, but I expect we'll both be taking in a lot of Gonzaga HS hoop games and he's a fully indoctrinated Villanova hoops fan, and we will always wear our gear, like we do now. Oldest boy is the person I hugged when Scottie sent us past Pitt to get to the F4, he's invested. I don't know if HS kids still talk to each other, but he'll be on the side of good I think.

ESPN Insider - Biancardi with Jay Wright on recruiting

This requires an insider subscription:
http://espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/on-the-trail/insider/post?id=15088

Interesting answer to "what two traits do you value most in the evaluation process?
Jay says:
"Competitiveness" & "We look at how a kid respects his coaches, teachers, teammates and all people."

on the topic of 1-and-dones considering 'Nova:
"When a recruit and his family take the time to learn about our program, someone who has aspirations to be a long-time professional player and finish their education as well as be a part of our program off the court [is a fit here]. I want them to be pros, but if they think there is another avenue to get them where they want to be, they should take it."

Prayers for Frank Pedicone

Frank is a long time Villanova fan and former VUSports member. Frank had triple bypass surgery today at Chester County Hospotal. Frank's doctor said the operation had been a success. They won't wake Frank up until tomorrow. Frank was one of the 13 guys who had 26 VU season tickets together at the Palestra starting back in the late 50s and was one of the 5 guys who had 10 tickets together back in the Field House and later the Pavillion, now downstairs with his two daughters and some other friends.

A couple of days ago Frank was discussing how long he'd keep his tickets since he's had macular degeneration for several years now. Yet he was talking about going up to the BE tourney again this year which now seems unlikely. Some of you know Frank and what a special person and Villanoba fan he is as well.

I remember introducing Frank to another great VU fan at a football game years ago. It turned out that Mike had been Frank's wife Ronnie's attorney before Frank had met ner in a bad house fire down the shore. Mike was recently awarded a special Villanova award at the Union League. Mike had suffered from Polio years ago.

Please remember Frank in your prayers.

Jay made visit to WCAC final - Dematha vs St. Johns on 2/22

Heard from a friend who attended the WCAC final that Jay came to watch the game.

Who from those teams are we recruiting for 2017 or 2018?

Could he have been there to see D.J. Harvey, from Dematha? He already has offers already from these schools:

Arizona, Duke, Georgetown, Houston, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, N.C. State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Villanova.

Anyone get to the game? SJ beat DeMatha 71-57

X game, and I know this

is late , but Rivals has granted me a dispensation after about six months out of the last year.
When X started to run away, neither Jenkins/nor DO were not on the floor. It hurts us both
on the glass and offensively, but in our scrambling D do both of them make defensive calls?

K mill14 stated that Jay has taught well Rolly's match-up. I must say that in Rolly's years
it was easier because of the inter changeable spots teams now run. The off guard
is apt to be on the base line; that would make match ups difficult.

I am now feeling better; that run in with a sixteen wheeler knocked me out for ten minutes
or, and my insurance company wants me to sign off. Any suggestions>
