Johnny Juzang Update With Nova Comment

Rivals' Corey Evans caught up with 5-star forward Johnny Juzang, talking about the evolution of his game and where his recruitment stands, and also got quotes on some of the schools that are involved, including Villanova.

Here's what Juzang said about the development of his game:

“I think what I have always done and has come naturally for me is scoring the basketball,” he said. “Now, I think, the biggest thing that I have been working on and improved upon is leadership, making everyone around me better, and not just on the court, but communication and stuff like that, I think have gotten better at and I have taken a lot of pride in.”

In regards to Villanova Juzang had this to say:

“Great program. I think, just now, everybody respects the program but it is about building the relationship with them and see where they are with things. I have talked to Jay Wright a few times and we will see where the relationship goes.”

With Juzang's recruitment picking up steam and more teams getting involved, it's likely things should drag on for a while. Other teams gaining traction with Juzang include Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette, UCLA, USC, and Virginia.

Rivals' Twitter Tuesday Yields Some Thoughts On Nova's 2020 Plans

Rival's Corey Evans opened up the mailbag for his weekly Twitter Tuesday column and tackled a question regarding Villanova's plans with the 2020 class.

Evans notes that the Cats have prioritized top 25 point guard Jeremy Roach and shared another player who has been drawing some interest from Nova. Here's what he had to say:

"I guess you could say that Villanova will not be as invested in the 2020 class as it was in the ones that preceded it, especially this year’s crop that will bring arguably Jay Wright’s best recruiting class to the Main Line in the fall. There are not many departures expected after the 2019-20 season beyond little-used Tim Delaney but, then again, someone like Bryan Antoine or Jeremiah Robinson-Earl could have a tremendous freshman season and become Wright’s first ever one-and-done at Nova.

Jeremy Roach is the Wildcats' main priority in the 2020 class, and he is down to a final four of Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, and the Wildcats. Villanova was the first of the bunch to prioritize Roach and their culture of success and strong guard development has definitely kept them in the picture. If not Roach, Villanova could wait things out further in finding the right match, though they have also shown some interest to Johnny Juzang, a do-it-all, five-star wing from California."

Juzang is currently ranked right behind Roach in the 2020 Rivals 150 at No. 22.

Paschall Gets Some Love From NBA Scout

There hasn't been a whole lot of chatter surrounding current Wildcats and the NBA, but it looks like Eric Paschall has the attention of those in the know.

I don't know how good of an NBA player Paschall can be, but I think we're seeing him work on some things that should help him at the next level (ballhandling, dribble-drive) and as the scout mentions he already has some things that will translate.

Regardless, it's great to see EP getting some recognition from the people who will help make the decision on his NBA future and to see that he has a chance to add to the number of Wildcats in the NBA as the program continues to dispell the narrative that it doesn't produce NBA players.

Hoop Hall Roundup Encouraging For Nova Fans

Rivals' Eric Bossi and Corey Evans have a roundup of the Hoop Hall Classic, listing five programs that should be pleased by what they saw at the big time event, and Villanova made the list. While Eric Dixon was scoring his 2,000th point at Abington, the other three members of the 2019 Villanova class were participating at Hoop Hall and making a good impression. Here's what Bossi had to say about the future Wildcats:

Jay Wright and Villanova fans had to have been watching with pride and excitement as three-quarters of their 2019 class looked terrific during Hoophall play. Five-star power forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was the best player on the floor during a nationally televised battle between his loaded IMG Academy squad and mighty Oak Hill. He’s a polished and skilled big man who is ready to contribute immediately. Likewise, shooting guard Bryan Antoine has a serious case for best in the senior class at his position and Justin Moore is exactly the type of guard that develops into a tough upperclassman that the Wildcats have built their program on. Watching all of these guys on TV Sunday and Monday had to have been an adrenaline boost for Nova hoops junkies. – Bossi

All four 'Nova recruits have been having excellent senior seasons, solidifying their rankings and creating a ton of excitement about the next few years on the Main Line.

Jeremy Roach Update w/ Nova Comment

2020 PG Jeremy Roach, currently ranked 16th in the 2020 Rivals 150, has been down to a final four of Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Villanova. Rivals' Corey Evans caught up with the elite guard and got comments on each of his finalists. Here's what he had to say about Nova:

“I visited there earlier this fall. It is a great program. Jay Wright is a great coach that develops his players and he has just told me that he wants to help me fulfill my dreams of getting to the NBA and he just feels like he is the best to do it, both mentally and physically.”

Roach said he doesn't have a specific timeline, but that a decision is likely sometime over the summer.

Cole Swider Breaks Hand

Villanova has announced that freshman Cole Swider suffered a fracture in his shooting hand and will be out indefinitely. The injury occurred during practice on Thursday.

"I really fell badly for Cole," said Jay Wright. He's one of the hardest workers on our team. Cole's got an outstanding attitude and I know he'll come back as quickly as possible from this injury."

Fractured hands have been an issue for Nova over the last two seasons, as both Collin Gillespie and Jermaine Samuels suffered hand injuries last year.

Big Game for Bryan Antoine

Villanova commit Bryan Antoine had a nice game as his Ranney team beat Bergen Catholic on Saturday.

There's been a steady stream of positive reviews coming out all winter regarding the four members of Villanova's 2019 class, and it's great to see that continue. While the Wildcats still have a lot to play for this season, it's hard not to get excited about the next group of 'Cats as they continue to have excellent senior seasons.

Robinson-Earl Continues To Impress

Just a quick update on the 'Nova commit as we wind down a long, quiet week and await an opportunity for Villanova to get back on track. So here's some positive news.

There's been a parade of encouraging reports emerging from the start of Robinson-Earl's senior season, and it's great to see that continue. While we remain focused on the season at hand, it's ok to take a moment to give some thought to next year and Robinson-Earl in a Villanova uniform.
