Day trip to SF today. Battery life on my computer is probably gonna last 3.5 hours, figured it would help pass the time.
Which city is better, L.A. or SF?
Kershaw vs. Bumgarner today in San Fran. Blow off your meeting and head to AT+T ParkI've only been to LA once and I was 12 -- so I didn't do anything but touristy stuff with my family. This is my 2nd trip to SF, I really enjoyed the first time here. I'll have a good chance to do some sight seeing today after my lunch meeting (1-2PM PT). My flight home isn't until 12:30AM so I'll be wondering around getting into some shenanigans. Taking any bar recommendations for mid-afternoon baseball.
How many will you have on this flight:
-trips to bathroom - 0. I have a strong bladder. I had a jamba juice large protein smoothie for breakfast. Strawberry banana, delicious.
-alcoholic drinks - 0. I'm with the VP of my company and I very rarely drink before 3PM (ET) as a rule.
-conversations with fellow passengers - 0. Sitting next to two guys who are larger than me (and I'm in the middle seat). Not ideal.
-naps - tried to kick off the trip with a nap, didn't happen. Figured I'd do 10 minutes of work, pay $40 for internet and take questions.
-looks out the window - as of now, 0. Guy with window seat closed it. I like looking out the window though.
Worst thing about the CoP airport? - Few outlets, families in jorts getting ready to go on vacation, no solid food options. I'm almost exclusively in Terminals B+C because I always fly US Air.
Why don't all flights over 2 hours have outlets and free wifi? Airlines are cheap and don't want to make new planes. They charge for Wifi because there are enough aholes like me who will expense it. This wifi costs $40.
More Cy Young votes this year Aaron Harang or Matt Harvey? Harvey will have trouble winning the Cy Young this year because he'll probably only finish with 15 wins, but it's gotta be Harvey. He's been lights out lately.
Does Dmill wear a fanny pack? Haven't seen him wear one in my life time. I don't judge people who do though, who cares.
Over/Under/Properly:
breakfast sandwiches - Under -- Spinnach egg and cheese is my sandwich of choice.
sugar - properly rated. People that abuse it are pretty disgusting.
fancy pens - over. I don't write much on paper anymore, not sure who really does.
bicycle commuting - properly rated except for the people who love talking about it.
Carmen Sandiego - never found her, over rated.
the Fast and Furious franchise - only saw the first one. The hype the most recent one got was insane for what was probably a bad movie. I like Vin Diesel though -- favorite movie with him is XxX.
Elizabeth Warren - Yawn. No one cares about politics. Over rated.
retirement - underrated. If you grind your whole life and don't do retirement properly, you messed up.
Maine - Never been, heard it's got good lobster. Underrated.
Kershaw vs. Bumgarner today in San Fran. Blow off your meeting and head to AT+T Park
Better career: Bryce Harper or Maikel Franco? -- Too close to call. We'll have to check back in 2020. Slight edge to Harper for compiling.
Better 90s TV show: Martin or the Critic? -- Never watched either.
What is the appropriate amount of fruit to eat in one day? - 1-2 Bananas, apple, 1 other fruit of choice. Any more than 4 pieces is probably over doing it.
What is the best way to get a peer to stop sucking at their job? I've worked at the same job since I graduated 'Nova. Seen about 35 people come and go since I started in the same position I currently work. 1/2 of them suck and (realistically) there is no way to get them to stop. The problem is getting progressively worse as everyone we hire has a major sense of entitlement and refuses to do actual work.
What are the odds that you end up doing blow on the Butcher's deck and missing your flight? Low to quite low. If he chimes in I'd probably meet up with him for a beer. His TQs were some of the best days on BW. Captip.
describe your last three encounters with the ladies.
1) Last night. I've been "dating" this girl for maybe 2 months, but we're not exclusive -- by her choice. Really confused about what she wants. She's picking me up at the airport tomorrow morning after my red eye to drive me to meet her whole family at their beach house in Cape May. Actual Act - Missionary, then legs up, then from the side. ~4.5 minutes.
2) (New girl so there's no repetition). Med student last Friday. Met her on Hinge about 4 months ago. Hook up periodically. My place, made her dinner, banged, walked her home. Actual Act - Doggy, then from the side. 3-4 minutes.
3)Met a girl at Smith's about a month ago. Took her back and she blew me. Pretty good, 5 minutes.
favorite family member outside your immediate family and why? - Might be cliche, but DMill. We're in communication daily, have done some pretty cool stuff together over the years -- including going to BET championship 2 months ago together. We did battle from when I was like 10-18, but since 'Nova he's probably closest extended family member.
favorite place to buy crap online? I hate buying stuff online, always afraid it won't fit correctly. I use a girl at work's Amazon Prime account when I really need something, but I like buying in a store with a human interaction.
over/under/properly:
lap band surgeries - Under. Over weight people need to get with the program.
Boiler Room - Under. We all know it's not a great movie, but I like the idea of it being in sales. Use it as motivation to make calls sometimes.
Microsoft Surface - I'm an apple guy.
ingrown hair - Under? I hate the pimply look that sometimes comes with it.
backdoor sliders - under. Why can't more pitchers throw them for strikes?
pulled pork - proper. Time and a place, but it's not the "end all be all" of meats.
eyeglasses - Over. Get Lasik. You can't do anything in glasses except look smarter. All sports, workouts, laying down are ruined by them.
How do you feel about Burrs' sports fandom critiques? - Hate them. He obsesses over the dumbest sh*t. I like him as a poster and I'm sure he's a good guy, but he just can't grapple that people can root for whomever they want. Not everyone has to be a 4/4er.
Where does the millennial sense of entitlement come from? In no particular order:
Internships
Parents who didn't make their kids get jobs when they were 14-22.
Obama (half kidding)
The running idea that everyone can have a job they love all the time.
Describe the best day you have had at your current job. I'd say it was a couple months after I started working. My company sent me and my best friend at work (still works there, I was at his bachelor party/wedding) to NYC for a conference. We scored invites to a pretty swanky party afterwards and got hammered for free. That's when we became pretty good friends. Big sales and stuff are nice, but i take all those in stride. Have had a lot more bad days it feels than good ones.
Do you see yourself staying in sales long term? If not, what else do you anticipate doing?
Does it make you feel weird talking about your uncle and which position you banged a chick and how long you lasted in the same post, cause it made me feel weird.
- Given the choice, Aisle or Window? - I would say Window. I enjoy the views when landing and you have a place you can rest your head. Aisle you have people walking by you the whole time bumping into you, sort of pisses me off. Both, however, are better than my current middle seat.
- Is bringing your own food or drink into a movie theatre akin to stealing? I would say, yes. I was just at the movies on Monday night, it sucks paying $5 for a water bottle and $8 for popcorn (ended up getting through 1/3 of the popcorn), but that's just part of the experience of the movies. It's akin to bringing your own beer to a bar. It's a low class move.
- Last time you cried? Probably around 3 months ago. Was pretty down in the dumps over work/few other things and was out at Bob and Barbara's with a girl and her friends. Just all of a sudden I felt extremely depressed and I just bolted. It was really awkward and I just started crying on my walk home. Felt fine in the morning.
- Most unusual country you've visited. Croatia. Studied abroad in Italy @Nova, a bunch of us took a weekend cruise over there and stayed in a 5-star hotel for like 15 euros each somehow. Place was awesome, but the clubs there were just insane. I was with 2 other guys from 'Nova at this random outdoor club. One of them reached over the bar and stole a bottle of jaeger. He ran to the bathroom, with a few of us, and we just played hands until it was gone. Kind of scary given the bouncers there are all 6'5 and ready to sell you into a hostel situation.
- Most unusual food/drink you've consumed. When I was in England a few years ago we had snake (maybe rattle, I forget) and kangaroo. It was a nice restaurant, but both of those tasted like sh*t. Was very grateful when one of my female cousins had ordered a steak and couldn't finish it.
I think so. The new format is growing on me, but I'm not there yet. 4.6 has been down since the switch, people less interested in looking at this screen. Why are people from California so full of bs? being a native of the NE Cooridor, don't you have a problem with those types? - Obviously the NE corridor is superior to California. I do hate the overall phoniness of people from CA, though I really don't know all that many of them. The few I knew at 'Nova were some of the most superficial people I've ever met. For the most part, they do have gr8 bodies from the mandatory gym/juice (not roids) time they put in.
Is this the first TQ since the rivals format change?
How exactly were you doing battle with Dmill from 10-18?
Intrafamily rivalry stuff. Nothing serious. Id shaving cream his car and tp his lawn, he would break into our house and open up Christmas gifts to ruin Xmas. Classic family stuff. Not even sure how it really started.
Describe any current beefs in your extended family? I have a huge extensive family, it's pretty crazy there are no real beefs. I see most a couple times a year, everyone participates willingly in all family functions.
What is the biggest threat to your company? Our product/services aren't that competitive. Our sales team is also down from like 25 to 5 at the moment. We trimmed a ton of fat but it's not good for morale.
Over/Under/Properly (female edition)
grooming - I'm fine if it's not perfectly kept, but don't expect me to go down town. Properly rated.
laugh - under. Girls with annoying laughs are one of my biggest turnoff.
occupation - not hairdresser or blue collar job and I'm fine. Nice comfy job, doesn't have to be high stress or demanding. But enough to know she can cut it in the work force.
upbringing - under. Shapes everything about you. Girls that were spoiled are never changing.
performance - overrated. Just get in and get out. No need for theatrics.
intelligence - properly. Anything lower than 60 on national university chart is a red flag. I prefer girls in 20-40 range.
apparel - I have 0 fashion sense. Can't answer, but I love sundresses. They are underrated.
(insert your own)
Worst form of racism that still slides under the radar today? Probably stuff against Mexicans.
How was your meeting? Did you sell any bibles?
Meeting went ok. Not thrilled actually. Not many bibles sold. We did end up walking over to the Giants and Dodgers game and catching the last couple innings.
DMill opened your Christmas gifts?! Please expand on this event. I think this was revenge for me bullying one of his sons. Not sure if you can really ruin Christmas, but he did also disconnect our cable that night which pissed off my dad.
What item of clothing have you owned the longest? Nova hoodie I bought in October 06 before I even got in. The sleeves are pretty effed but I love that sweatshirt.
Describe your most recent Citi Field trip.
I bought tickets for 3 extended family members, my dad and myself for opening day. I came from my friends apt and took the 7 from grand central. The others drove in and got in late. We entered citi in the 3rd. A business like win over the Phillies. Started a 10 game home win streak.
Did you boo Granderson? Yes, I hate him. Besides Mayberry he is my least favorite met.
Do people ever tell you that you resemble a notable person? Yes, once every 2 weeks someone I have never met tells me I look like Bradley cooper.
Better movie:
Back to School - clear winner here. Dangerfield was on his game.
Summer School
Tortured artist or sad addict:
I have very little sympathy for any of these people. But here goes:
Kurt Cobain - tortured.
Michael Jackson - pedophile, addict.
Whitney Houston - addict.
Philip Seymour Hoffman. - addict.
Heath Ledger - love dark knight too much. Tortured.
John Belushi - addict.
Jimi Hendrix - talented addict.
Ol' Dirty Bastard - addict.
Sid Vicious - addict.
Amy Winehouse - addict.
Call bullshit on dmil being your fave family member. If that were true, you'd be friends on Facebook and you're not despite the fact that you're both friends with tons of other less immediate family.
So your nephew is a creepy stalker? Got it. And yes does sound like work needs to be done here. As I suspected you aren't that close. I'm here to help.
