Looks like Nova will run the DMR at the NCAA's as they have the 9th fastest time now. Also looks like Texas which had the fastest time in the nation before today will not be one of the 12 teams to qualify.

no, they wouldn't have. they had to win their heat. There were a bunch of teams around :30 and :31. Texas is now out by fractions. Nova led the heat from start to finish. If Ellison does not make nationals in the individual 800, can he be put into the 400 leg? I don't know the splits, but I assume he would lower the overall time.

They were 20 meters ahead after the second hand off apparently, which was apparently run in 3:40, which is plenty fast enough. They don't need to get faster, they just should have been in a faster heat. Being way ahead like McEntee ahead is exactly where you don't want to be on the anchor leg of the DMR.

It was totally wrong. It was Williamsz, Ellison, FitzSimons, McEntee.

Side note- Why would somebody pay actual money for that horrible camera work by Flotrack.

Villanova DMR

I guess we have had to wait a week for an east coast showdown. PSU, Princeton and Nova all ran very well last night. Lvoe to see them go 1,2 ,3 next week. Would have liked to see what kind of time Nova could have run if pushed. PSU was pushed and blazed to a 9:26 and change. Scary when you consider they ran 2 freshman legs (1200 and 800) and they didn't even run the guy who could win the 800M individual race next week in Casimir Loxsom. Replace Watkins' 1:49 for Loxsom going 1:47 and they are even tougher to handle. Creese has a killer kick, gotta take that out of him if we want to win it next week. Again, wish PSU and Nova had been in same heat last night.

If everybody runs their studs, that could be a great race. All 12 teams w/in 4 sec.

Sam Ellison got screwed into a slow heat in favor of a bunch of guys he smoked earlier in the year and got bumped.

Denault went 3:59. 39 ( not sure about the .39) this afternoon, giving Nova 3 young sub 4 runners.

Not sure why anyone would pay flotrack to see a track meet.

take 5 seconds off McEntee's time to get down to his PR and see how interesting the DMR could be next week

A DMR comparison between Penn St and VU is interesting. Novaclass90 makes a good point about Loxsom. The third leg might just be the key. I see VU with a lead after two legs. Can Fitzsimons run with Loxsom? Friday, he went out too fast and tied-up in the end. You have to figure McEntee is a whole lot better than what he showed, Creese may have a slight lead or they will get their sticks at the same time - unless Fitzsimons runs the race of his life ...
.
Interesting also in that Loxsom and Fitzsimons are both from Connecticut and competed against each other in HS.

For what it is worth, Ben Malone beat Watkins, last year, at least once - maybe twice..

Too bad Marcus couldn't sweet talk English into coming ...

I doubt Loxsom or Creese will be running the DMR at the national meet as they have semifinals earlier the same night.

Loxsom only has about an hour btw his 800 trial and Dmr so he is probably out. But Creese has over 3 hours to recover. If PSU wants to win it, CReese will be in DMR.

No idea.

Sam Ellison might just get into the field depending on whether Austin Mudd from Wisconsin and Chris O'Hare from Tulsa decide to focus on the mile or try to double. If I had to guess, they'll both run the mile and the mile only.

Without Loxsom, PSU will be in a little trouble. I cannot see this group running faster. Their main competitors - Princeton & VU - ran in different heats . VU was not pressed in its heat. Princeton ran without its top 400 man, Tom Hopkins. Be interesting.

Penn Relays, though, will be it. However, read that Arkansas is not coming. What does that mean? And they supposedly are not going to Drake either. Still everyone will have their best people..
