Nicki A. for us bested Cuffee of Stanford yesterday. Cuffee had to be one of the top five or so high schoolers in the country last year while Nicki had decent but not outstanding times as a high schooler in Ga. What did Gina see
in Nicki? We would have killed to get Cuffee

Incidentally, the TV I was watching had comments by other people; one had to be Nicki's dad by the name of Luke A. Go Cats.

If you add Cuffee as the fifth place, I believe Villanova wins. Venables must be hurt. If she was on form, Villanova also wins. Villanovarunning also had a great piece about Simpson being homesick and not returning last year.

The women had three strikes against them, but that's the way it goes. Hopefully they'll have a great recruiting year.

I think that was Akande's brother.

excattyguy,

Thanks for the information; Venables must be hurt as you said. The senior from FM (Rutledge?) also must be hurt since she ran only one race this year.
I still am amazed that Nicki could run faster than Cuffee based on high school performance. What did Gina see in Nicki? The homesickness of Simpson was posted early last year. I will be interested in Fanning from FM as the year progresses. How could could Angel P. be? It is all a crap shoot.

Hopefully Gina keeps kicking ass because losing four All-Americans in two years is a potentially crushing blow to a program.

Agree with excattyguy. A healthy Venables would have done it. Have to believe that was one of the key reasons for signing her. She is strictly distance, And VU needed an outstanding distance runner. Unfortunately she got hurt right about the time she signed.

I'm not sure if Venables is hurt, but it could explain things. I'd look for her to have the kind of year next year that Akande did this year. High school coaches in this area have great respect for her ablility and expect her to be a force next year.
